Geaux Sam!!

NBC short changes Burns on tv coverage! It seems like all the other golfers get more camera time than Burns. That’s how I feel anyway.

Great story. He almost didn't play in The Open. His second child's birth was due this week and he planned to stay home. The daughter, Belle, arrived earlier than expected on July 3rd. Sam's wife encouraged him to go. I believe he had time to play only one practice round. Sam had a pretty bad first round and ended up 3 over par. He had bogeys on the last 3 holes. His second round was a record tying 62 followed by a solid 65 (2nd best round of the day) today.

I didn't get to see most of today's round but did have the good sense to record it. Watching it now while enjoying a J.T. Meleck Louisiana Small Batch. It is great watching already knowing how the round ended up.

Geaux Sam. Get your first major.

Pretty sure DT is the only LSU alum to win a major…2001 PGA Championship.

I was trying to remember if he had a major. I didn't think he had one. Thanks for the info.

I didn't know this about his daughter. Man I wonder if they hope on a plane tomorrow just in case. I'm assuming mom and baby are doing OK.
I wouldn't tell him youre coming just to keep the pressure off of him.

Rory was pretty rude in his comments about Bryson and "not fond of him". But I understand he may rub people the wrong way but he has gotten better the last few years and his abrasiveness.
But I guess to have a little back and forth between player is fun, but it certainly is a gentlemanly, which is what golf is supposed to be. It's supposed to be different than the other smack talking sports.

Do people fly with 2 week olds? Genuinely curious that doesn't sound all that safe

The Hebert brothers, Jay and Lionel, both won the PGA Championship back in the 50’s. I think both went to LSU.

Looks like only Lionel went to LSU
Hebert brothers carve a niche in PGA Championship history

And I would bet Rory has beef with Bryson over LIV.

Rory has been a big champion for the PGA tour and Bryson has been a huge LIV guy.

Damn I didnt know Jay Hebert was a Lieutenant on Iwo Jima and shot on Mt. Suribachi. Junior Officers went down by the minute in the Pacific. Wild

Sam just teed off. He’s playing aggressive took a driver on first hole.

Needs to keep making birdies, lots of great scores during the early rounds.
