Absolutely. Ed O and Corey Raymond left the DB room a complete mess.

Can’t bring poor secondary play against FSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Bama, etc

A nasty d line can hide some flaws in the secondary but there will still be times they get exploited.

I do think we need to get our minds ready now and understand this team is going to have to beat people with their offense. The defense will give up some points for sure.

frick off with this shite. He absolutely created the culture that allowed McGlothern to be a lazy arse who didn’t give a frick about showing up to meetings. Ricks was gone before Kelly was even announced. Now go back to fantasy land.

Sage has not looked like some can’t miss prospect at Saftey so far

He’s a bit small for the safety position in the SEC. You have to be super physical or have freakish instincts if you are that undersized and he hasn’t shown either of those attributes. Hopefully the move works out well for him.

That's honestly not a good sign if true. I figured Chestnut has a spot locked down. It's hard to believe Sage plays over Alexander. He looked pretty good in spring and has been rolling with 1s since
the OP made some assumptions not founded. The starters are Chestnut and Zy. Stamps is probably first in. Ryan has played nickle. So being an emergency corner isn’t a huge stretch

O recruited Stingly and Ricks, who played/starred as freshmen. How in heck is he to blame?

Calm down, people need to give this guy more of a chance to learn and develop.

2020 2021 2022 classes and we have one CB left on this roster

Kelly was hired weeks before the early signing day for the 2022 class. He's done what he can to patch it together. The DB class in 2023 was heavy on high school kids, and I know he specifically pegged Denver Harris and JK Johnson as guys he would have for multiple years, and not just 1-year stop gaps. If you listen to Brian Kelly talk he is very aware he has work to do to try and cycle the DB room into long term viability.

All that said, going back to before he got here & blaming him is meaningless and ignorant

Why don’t you just panic and throw your hands in the air and go ahead call the season a failure why don’t you.

Seems like that is what you’re doing. I’m talking about the cornerbacks

What is wrong with some of you. You’re so delusional you can’t even admit we have recruited like shite at the cornerback position from 2020 2021 2022 without causing a total meltdown.

Ignorant is not reading the thread and blaming Kelly.
Once again you’re melting when I said Kelly is doing a great job. Stop recycling old prepared statements.

Not according to half this thread. We are fine at CB and depth.

Sage never seemed suited to play nickel but I thought he would play safety better with the ability to roam and play zone. But moving to Corner is interesting, maybe he has improved in his man-to-man coverage and will be suited well there. Time will only tell.

Both of them ran themselves off. Ricks was a headcase and McGlothern thought he was better than anyone else on the team and didn't need to follow rules.

Thank you.

Listening to the interview it seems like Ryan is just getting reps at CB. The next sentence he said Zy has been balling all spring so that’s just expected of him now. Sounds like this is more of a get Ryan reps there for a certain package or just in case we need him. Nothing from that interview says Ryan has moved to CB permanently.

Harris being a bust is the fly in the ointment

If we avoid injuries we will be pretty good. If we have one or two go down. Ouch
