Lucky sob gets to spend the majority of his baseball season this year in San Damn Diego as well! Quite literally living the dream.

At the end of the game he made a great play running in and throwing to barely get the guy. They reviewed it and called him out. The guys on the MLB Network kept saying his name was Shrimp and got mad because Ichiro was on deck. The commentary was pretty funny.

I was playing 2nd base when he hit the cafeteria at St. Pauls. Anyone who's played there knows just how far that is.

He could always hit.

Dude knows how to hit a baseball, Mason Katz learned the same thing. You don't need to be huge to be a power hitter. Just need to be smart.

Back to back home runs with Blake Dean twice in the same inning against Tulane was the greatest thing I ever saw.

i recruited him for one of my traveling teams when he was just 9 years old. At the time, his family lived on the southside of the lake in Metairie and I had watched him play at Cleary Playground. He was a great player but I had no idea he would turn his dream into reality. On that same team in 1995, I had Paul Bertuccini and Matt Gaudet. They all ended up at LSU. 3 years later, I'm living in Lafayette and i'm putting together a travel team once again, and who ends up on my team- a tall, athletic but somewhat gangly kid named Mikey Mahtook. BTW, I last saw Schimpf around 2012. I was watching my son playing baseball for St. Thomas More against St. Paul and Schimpf was there, with his mom and dad watching his little brother play for St. Paul. we talked and I was able to introduce my son to him. In so glad for his success!
