Now me, I'd take 3 years of Meyer, restoring the foundations of the program Saban laid. When we look for the next coach, things would be back and running again.

I'll gladly take a guy who will build us into a national title winner/contender in three years and when he leaves shortly after we are left with a roster loaded with first round draft picks.
I'm not going to be mad if Urban signs a contract, but all this talk is just delusional. He has a great job right now. He left his dream job after 6 years because he couldn't handle the stress. He's not available and LSU isn't going to be able to convince him to leave. Texas couldn't do it, and Texas was trying to woo a jobless Urban who wanted to get back into coaching. I think we're a better job than Texas is in 2021, but they also had a much lower wall to climb. He's just really not worth the effort to go after beyond a nominal call.
Plus one of these days his wife is going to actually win the longstanding coaching argument (she desperately wants him to retire for real and just go into broadcasting).

He was at Ohio State for 6 seasons and Florida for 5 seasons. Last time we had a coach who stayed for 5 seasons it worked out pretty damn well.

That’s a direct relationship to how much a QB develops while in college. He’s great at maximizing college talent against other college talent, but he is not a QB developer.
