The issue is that people think Jefferson is less of an athlete because he was a three star recruit that we as LSU fans love to push.
They forget the fact a big reason he was a three star recruit wasn’t his physical ability. It was the fact they didn’t think he would be able to qualify academically to play and a lot of schools backed off of him because of that.

Ryan Clark didn’t pull some skip Bayless with an outlandish opinion, he simply is saying wrong measurable facts because he is ignorant. It’s 100% not the same thing
What Bayless does is hokey and dumb, but it’s a bit. Clark is just ignorant.

There is nothing wrong with saying that Pickens is taller but he said things that are quantifiable and wrong. Would it be OK to say that Josh Smith was shorter than Jordan or a better free throw shooter when both are quantifiable and wrong?
It would be harder to argue if he had said Pickens will be better in the NFL but just hasn't had the opportunity to prove it yet because that is not yet quantifiable. Instead, he made assertions that are provably false.

This is a misunderstanding created by imprecise language. Does Pickens have more upside potential? Maybe. He is a physical specimen. Is Pickens *better* than JJ right now? Nope.
I wouldn’t have a problem with him saying has *more potential* (again, maybe…) but JJ is better today.

There's probably several people in the NFL that are stronger, taller, more physically gifted than JJ, but that doesn't make them better than JJ.
Look at Steve Smith for example. Dude was always smaller, not as strong, not as fast. That was what the experts saw. But that dude has that DOG in him, and every gameday he just out smarted, out hustled, and just out toughed the CB's.
Justin Jefferson has a high football IQ, exceptional route running, ball skills, and high athleticism. He's better than Pickens because JJ just wants it more.
