well, much better than tulane, USL, etc
Completely and totally agree. I have heard that Lsu and Tulane are looking to get out of that 10 year deal they signed. Maybe this is the replacement. I would love to go to Houston to watch a game

I love reliant stadium. It really makes the Superdome seem outdated. My dad has PSLs there so I'd have some great tickets

That type of series would be so much better that a USL f@&k fest in Tiger Stadium. I'll go to H'town to see that matchup in a cool beer serving stadium.

First of, for the dude who thinks it gives us antoher game on turf....it doesn't. Reliant is a grass field, bro.
Secondly, it's clearly for recruiting purposes. Not so that recruits can see the Tigers when they are there, but so they can tell the recruits that we'll be back your sophomore year when you're playing and your whole family, friends, etc...can see you play. They do that shite in baseball and basketball pretty regularly.
And lastly, it would be a home game. Trust me. There will be 60K Tiger fans in Reliant. UH only gets 20-30K to their games at Robertson Stadium, the reason they moved back to campus. To be honest, there may actually be more than that. I know I'll be there with family and friends.

People may whine and bash the SEC for not playing better teams OOC, but it will never hurt any SEC school. As long as the SEC champion has a record equal to the top few teams in the country, they'll be in the NCG every season.
False, if LSU hadn't played va tech in 07 then they wouldn't have made teh NCG... Auburn was obviously left out in 04 as well

What's wrong with UT or Tx A$M? Why not do a 5 year with either?

Tiger N Austin, Has LSU ever played McNeese?

Giant Killer,
UT & A&M do not want LSU playing in Texas, period. We have already made too many recruiting inroads there and the alumni base in Houston is starting to annoy them (see LSU Texas license plates).
This makes absolutely great sense...Baton Rouge is only 4 hours away. The Shepards, Lostons and future 5*s to come would love to see their kids play near home. Very significant contributors to both of our football NCs this decade have come from that area, accept it.

overrated IMO.
I would hope we're getting a large part of the gate for the games in Houston similar to the Tulane deal.

I think it is very good idea. But an game with Texas in Houston would be a even better game. I was ripped for sayin that last yr on the scout web site. But Coach Miles an Brown would never do that to much to risk.

(Rumor) LSU "is negotiating a 5 year deal" in Fball with....
...the University of Houston Cougars. Just got word today that an LSU-UH series is in the works...

ok, I hate to ask a dumb question... but what the heck... is this one of those rumors I should get excited about (i.e., it has teeth), or is it one of those "my wife's boss' nephew whose girlfriend works at the UH volleyball office..."??
If its the former, I would be VERY excited about the recruiting potential here!!

This would definitely be a good idea for LSU to take advantage of if it is true. Recruiting is one thing, but developing the fanbase in Texas in general would be a great secondary reason. I am sure there are some second tier fans who would definitely be impressed with our following and become more of a fan if we were to play in HOuston. I live in AR, but would still try to make the game in Houston if I had the chance..

Houston is the 4th largest city in America. Glad to play there.

This is a win win situation. Recruiting purposes, largest alumni base outside LA.,and a chance to get out of playing Fulane in the Shitdome.

If we are going to go non-BCS lets grab a team out of the Mountain West or certain teams from the WAC. Boise St., Fresno State, Nevada, Utah, BYU or TCU.
Why? So fans of both teams will have to go on long road trips to watch an away game?

Nope, I can't and won't claim to have any sort of meaningful "insider" info here.
The only reason I even mentioned it in the first place is because it came from a guy I know who is an active UH alumnus and quite in tune with and active in supporting UH athletics.
In other words, a guy who didn't know a thing about all of the talk we've heard (from other fans, from Verge, etc.) about LSU wanting to do a neutral site game in Houston.
Other than that, I can't offer you much. I will, however, call this guy to see if he's heard anything else (and to see what else he may know but hasn't shared w/ me).

Think it would be cool. A differant road trip from the same ole SEC road trips. One that is drivable and against a decent opponent. I personally would like it. And again would be a smart move for recruiting.
