Rule change considerations for Women College Basketball

All this noise about basketball records (Clark at Iowa) got me to thinking about the future of the game. While I do think it is a different game, they are playing with the same number of scholarships now and are getting the publicity they need. Similar to college baseball, it is time to change the game to a higher level based on the player’s skills.
2 rules to consider are:
1. Force a rule change to a size 7 ball OR change the rims to smaller for women to account for the ball size difference.
2. Stop the time out between quarters. This is a fatigue issue and frankly we are beyond that now.
With that, this is reason number 1000 those records cannot be compared besides shot clock, 3 point line, etc.

Considering most universities share a gym between men and women, the logistics of this would be comical

Lower the goals to 8 feet - let’s get some dunking.

Are you kidding? No it wouldn’t. They change rims mid-game in about 5 min.

Why would you change the rim or ball size? The WNBA uses a 10’ rim and the smaller ball as well don’t they? Is there something wrong with shots going in at the frequency they are now?
The ONLY reason to do this would be if there was some actual comparison between men’s stats and women’s stats, which isn’t the case. They are rightfully treated as two separate sports.
Regarding an 8’ rim, that would make the 6’-8” girls like Cardoso 100% undefendable. No thanks. Size is already a much bigger factor in the women’s game. This would just exacerbate it.

Dumbest thing I've read on this board so far in 2024.
You have watched very very little women's college basketball if you think they need to make the game more skilled. There are a ton of missed shots and layups already.

He said his true reasonings for wanting this in the first sentence. He read somewhere where a person compared Clarks scoring record to Pete's scoring record. Rational people understand that it's a different game, and the records each stand completely alone. Simple minded people get offended, and want to make drastic rules changes.

No. If anything the men's college game should follow suit along with the timeout to advance the ball at the end of halves.

Does any basketball organization other than Mens College Basketball not have quarters rather than simply having two halves? Adding quarters to MBB seems more logical to me.

Lower the goal to 9 ft. Maybe an even smaller ball.

That’s not how the media is pushing it today. They never mention any advantages - ever.

I’m saying rim diameter to match the men’s game. The ball is smaller because of their hand size so change the rim. They should be able to shoot at the same level of accuracy.

Well, I nailed this one just a few post up.

I’m not simple minded arse. I do understand they are different but the entire country and liberal media push agendas that it is equal. We truly want Title IX, then make the game equal. Simple.
It’ll take a year and they would then change it back because of how much more difficult it is to shoot a larger ball into the same size goal. Go to the fair and shoot into those smaller rims.
The 4 quarters make no sense in today’s game. None.

Many arenas have “mobile/roll-out” goals —- so keeping a few w/ smaller rims could be done easily.

Lynette Woodard had 3600 plus points before ncaa recognized stats
That’s who Clark should be chasing

Every league around the world uses 4 quarters. From the NBA down to biddy ball.
The only league that uses 2 halves is men’s college basketball.
