Watch us beat Tennessee tomorrow night decisively and see it skyrocket to 9 or 10.

Playing Tennessee win or lose should help rpi. Would be real good to get at least one more win this weekend.

I don’t know exactly how much rpi goes into hosting, but I’m starting to wonder if we host over Arkansas at this point. They have 18 SEC wins but their rpi at 36 is 3 seed territory for an SEC team. Unusual I think.

Auburn and Georgia being 1 and done and not making a run helps us too I think. Seems all is working out so far for LSU hosting.

If the season were to end today we would not. We are in the discussion with several other teams. The big problem is all of those other teams are winning!

All those other teams aren’t LSU. Yes it’s about RPI etc. but when it comes down to picking regional host sites between what looks to be even teams, LSU should get the nod over someone else who doesn’t have the history or would bring the revenue from attendance and TV viewers.

When there would be a difference of a few million viewers, I think they’d go with the team who brings that value, has history, is red hot offensively, and is deserving. That’s jmho. If we keep on this offensive tear, it’ll be very hard to keep a hot LSU team from hosting.

Need at least one more win, two might lock it in.

I think we’re hosting now regardless of W or L vs Tenn

1 more win would seal the deal if there is any doubt, but I don’t think it’s even necessary.

I support this message!

The D1 RPI is now updated through yesterday's games and it is the same as the Nolan RPI at #20.

You also have to remember that LSU is dealing with injuries to some of its most impactful players. I would assume that the voters would have to take that into account when it comes to projecting LSU’s current ranking and with baseball that is a fluid thing.

You can be an average team in week 10 and be one of the best teams in the conference by week 12. Especially when seen in a competitive tourney type situation with head to head comparisons. Things can look and be vastly different by the end of it.

so, LSU plays the number 1 RPI team and could possibly play the #18 rpi team?

Correct, for instance Arkansas.

Arkansas is not the same team it was when we faced them, nor was LSU.

Although this does show up in RPI, Arkansas is ahead of LSU in the end of season SEC standings.

Same thing can be said of Auburn, but in their case, their RPI is waaay higher than ours, but to say they are the same team as they were a couple weeks ago is wrong.

I would think the committee would have to take the recency bias into account

LSU’s RPI should go up tonight just for playing Tennessee.

Wait, I thought people said we needed to play Auburn for RPI purposes.

Just win, baby.

We moved up 1 to #19 after the Gators eliminated the Hogs. But at #19 there is at least 5 teams ahead of us that likely will not be hosting (Vandy, UGA, Auburn, Dallas Baptist, and Georgia Southern). I think we are in good shape, I just don't want to go 1-2. Let's win the next one and lock it all up!

Wake Forest isn’t going to host either and UNC might need to continue their run in the ACC tournament. I wouldn’t eliminate Auburn or Ga Southern/Texas St just yet. The Big 12 will get a second host and maybe a third out of Oklahoma St, TCU and Texas Tech. Arkansas could get a host before LSU, especially if LSU loses out. That puts LSU standing anywhere from #12 to #18 at the moment. The biggest threats to hosting are probably Auburn and Arkansas. One more win should solidify LSU ahead of those two. If they lose out, they’ll need to sweat out other results and be reliant on how the SEC bids are sorted out.

Hard to see Arkansas host with an RPI of 42 (now at #43) and their late season swoon. But they did finish the SEC regular season at #3, just like we finished that same season ahead of Auburn. Well we will know soon enough at 11 AM on Monday morning. I think the Tigers have done enough already to host. Swept a high RPI Vandy on the road to finish the season and finished a top 4 seed in the SEC with a tournament win that both Auburn and Arkansas could not produce.
