You act the LSU AD has the power to control who televises a neutral site Tournament lol
They have the power to control who plays in it. It's a shite lineup anyway.

Or…ESPN/SEC decided not to carry it so, Kendall’s team stepped in. Had they not stepped in, you’d have zero options to watch other than buying a ticket.
If they carry a game against Southern on a Tuesday afternoon, there is zero reason for me to believe they wouldn't pick up these games.
And I paid a monthly price to watch Braves games last year for almost the exact same amount as they are charging for one weekend of college baseball. There is no justifying that.

Games should’ve been on Watch ESPN… College baseball will never grow with this absolute garbage.
Actually this should have been carried on one of the ESPNs and at the very least on WatchESPN! With all the damn money I pay already for DIRECTV and Wi-Fi services at both of our homes and not even talking about cell service, it’s beyond ridiculous!

As has been explained several times in this thread alread, they carry a Tuesday afternoon game against Southern because it's already in the contract to do so.
The don't broadcast any round robin tournaments at any MLB or MILB stadiums, why would they all of a sudden pick this one up?
ESPN was not an option to broadcast this tournament. No matter what you think or feel about that, just fricking deal with it because it's a fact.
There were only 3 options for this tournament:
1. No broadcast at all
2. FloSports, a shitty streamer with a predatory pricing structure
3. D1 Baseball
No one is forcing you to buy this. But for the love of God get it through your thick fricking skull that ESPN was not going to run these games.

The melt over $25 is wild in this thread. Are these people trolling or being serious?

They have to carry the home games of SEC teams as part of the SEC's TV contract. They are under no obligation to carry neutral site games.

They're serious. Because they're too dumb to understand what's being told to them.
One guy said it shouldn't cost as much as his monthly fee to watch the Braves. The Braves who already have a fixed cost to broadcast 162 games and many thousands more fans over which to spread that cost.
Some people just can't fathom that ESPN won't do something they've never done just because LSU is involved.
And when confronted with facts, they get indignant.

ESPN had zero interest in televising this.
We had interest in spending a lot of $ to televise this to make it be a premium broadcast.
That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

Uhhhhhhhh no they don’t. Do you think LSU is hosting this event?

is you're taking games away from the normal platforms that people are already paying to use
You really think D1Baseball can outbid ESPN?
They aren’t taking any games away from the already contracted games ESPN broadcasts.

Question for you Kendall...can these games be watched after the fact (i.e. on demand) or is it limited to the live stream?
I won't be able to watch live on Friday.
Thanks!

A couple of us already asked that and he said it would be available to stream after it airs live. Check around page one or two.
Posted on 2/22/23 at 5:01 pm to SoloTiger
Yes. I am pushing to have the game available about 15-20 minutes after the completion of the game for people who cannot watch it live. It will be archived on the individual game pages.
I'll also give people the ability to download games after the tournament is over.

No one is forcing you to buy this. But for the love of God get it through your thick fricking skull that ESPN was not going to run these games.
And while I'm busy getting your tirade through my "thick skull", maybe you could address why it's ok to charge 25 dollars for a weekend of less than exciting matchups, if there was no competition from ESPN for the rights to this broadcast? I'm well aware that this wasn't under their contract, obviously, considering they aren't covering it. What I said was that instead of D1 covering this and telling us how thankful we should be that they didn't charge, I guess, 30 dollars for this, maybe ESPN COULD have picked it up. If they didn't want to, fine. That doesn't explain the absurd price.
"Well, we brought in ESPN broadcasters and it's gonna be in 1080p." So what? I don't watch the games for the broadcasters, and I can deal with 480p for a few days. And enough of that tired strawman "no one is forcing you to buy it". I didn't say anyone was forcing me to do anything, but then, if I wanted to watch the games, it doesn't exactly leave me a choice, now does it? Well, I do want to watch LSU, but I reckon I'll settle for radio.
Everyone has the right to do what they want with their own money, so I'm not going to lecture anyone for paying for it. My issue lies directly with the principle of charging so much for such a short amount of time, and for an event that I doubt will be in very high demand.

Is Justin's Bar and Grille gonna be open this wknd or am i gon have to actually buy this thing?

ESPN COULD have picked it up
The guy that is one of the main people for the company that is literally paying for the rights has already said ESPN showed no interest in it. You know how you know that’s true? Because if ESPN wanted it they would have gotten it. D1 Baseball wouldn’t be able to compete.
And as far as the price. It’s called supply and demand. When you are the only person with the rights you can charge what you want and it is up to us to buy it. I’m sorry I’m not going to be upset at a company that wants to make a profit. You can buy it or not it’s up to you. The games will still be free on the radio.
