Scott Woodward set the market himself. No one else in the country gives 10 year contracts. He gave 2!

i'd be real curious who else was in the market for brian kelly at that time. ND didn't seem interested in giving him everything he wanted to stay.

Woodward hired Jimbo to a 10 year $75 million contract. Jimbo was bought out before that contract expired.
If Ross Bjork doesn't do the mega extension, Jimbo would have been owed 21 million and not 75 when he was fired

ND AD was upset BK didn’t give them a chance to counter. You people just make stuff up.

I quote Sydney Sweeney's character in Anyone But You. "Sounds like you don't know what the word means." Touche!

Really feels like everyone talking the Jimbo $70+ million buyout and putting it on Woodward really have no clue how to do even the most basic fact checking.

Woodward extended Coach O's contract and had to buy him out two years later.
Woodward hired Brian Kelly to a 10 year contract and 3.5 years later has to buy him out for $53 million.
Woodward was heavily involved in 3 of the top 8 highest buyouts of all time in college football.
Any AD in his right mind extends O after 2019, wtf?
Secondly, why are we pocket watching boosters? The salaries and buyouts will continue to go up.

[embed]As I’ve been saying for days, it was 100% Woodward who made the decision to get rid of Kelly.[/embed]

No. He’s so delusional & uninformed. He still thinks Woodward is responsible for Jimbo’s buyout
Landry’s problem is he has used no wisdom in this at all. This is the kind of stuff you talk about behind closed doors or to your buddies, but not in public for all the world to witness.
That’s dumb.

Oh no! Local Democrats fire back whatever is LSU going to do for a coach now
Posted on 10/30/25 at 3:10 pm to FireGoodell
So Landry wanted us to hire Will Wade back, huh? Ok, so he has some good points here and there.

Landry may have a fricking meltdown of the BOS doesn’t fire AD
Yes they were appointed by him, but Ballard isn’t an idiot. I don’t think they are going to follow Landry here and it’s going to be epic fricking shite show
Do they really have much of a choice at this point?
If they don’t fire him, it’s now very public knowledge that the governor wants him out and isn’t afraid to stir the pot. One of the key jobs for the AD during a coaching search is to convince candidates that they will have resources, support, and stability. I don’t think Woodward can make any of those assurances now. Landry cut his legs out.
I wasn’t really on the “fire Woodward yesterday” train before, but now I think you have to let him go and get a new AD in-place before the end of the season if at all possible.

So I guess everyone thinks it is OK that the agent for our AD is also the agent for a significant number of the high end coaches coaches in the NCAA. That's how we ended up with BK, or could end up with a Jimbo Fisher, a Franklin, or Swinny. You don't think there is some influence there. I mean yes it worked out in baseball but it surely did not work out for us in football. I believe in removing any doubt of influence...the new AD should have a say but the final say should be with the BOS.

So a ten million dollar per year contract won't be filled because the Gov wasn't politically correct?

He’s also a ULL grad. He doesn’t care about LSU nor does he know anything about it. That’s why he thought Omar was a good idea.

I've seen some posts agreeing that Landry is right, but very very few agreeing with him taking this stance in public. I'm in agreement with both of those, but I also don't think Woodward should be fired, and in such a case, I would be for allowing the AD to make the coaching change.
Sometimes you swing big, and sometimes you .issue. We couldn't have foreseen these issues with BK, we were expecting stability, we didn't get it.

His actions aren’t “politically incorrect”, they are clear demonstration of an absurd over stepping/meddling by a bureaucrat into sports that any desirable head coach with options may view as negative.

Of course the agents are pissed. They see themselves and their clients missing out on another ridiculous contract.
