used to play pickup games with him and some of the lanier and murrah guys in the summers 92-96 in Jackson at the Courthouse. It was more us watching those guys. They were incredible. Makes you understand how good the superstars of the NBA are because none of the guys made it long in the NBA. James Robinson maybe for a bit.

Possibly, Ronnie was athletic with a pure shot. While I recall that he had a very good career at LSU on some bad teams (due to Randy's injury situation), it almost seemed like Ronnie didn't have quite enough 'edge' to maximize his talent.
When Ronnie finished at LSU, I honestly thought he would make it in the NBA by getting out of the downward LSU program. Now looking back, I wonder if it was more of a case of Ronnie not having the full set of intangibles needed to play on the highest level.

Basile, when I said overshadowed, I meant it in regards to recognition moreso than performance.
Ronnie never really got his just due b/c the hoopla was always centered around Livingston being the #1 recruit, LA kid, etc.
No question that Ronnie had a better career. No telling how good that team could've been if no injuries.

They had to use an undersized power forward Lanear Burns at center. He played with great heart and hustle but at 6'6 was often overmatched . Roman Rubitchenko also palyed inside but he was only about 6'7 and also got overmatched. Then he Lester Earl fiasco a couple yers later sank a promising outlook.

Ronnie got more accolades in college than Randy. All-SEC twice.
Sure Randy had all the hype coming out of high school, but it never materialized due to the injuries.
There are a ton of players that were underrated that have come thru.
The #1 that comes to mine is Tyrus Thomas. Look at his accolades at the high school level. Now look at what he was able to accomplish at the collegiate and professional level.

Not underrated. He was a national top five recruit in his HS class and widely considered the top shooting guard in the class. He was considered an elite blue chip recruit. Could have gone pretty much anywhere he wanted.

Klay Thompson before klay Thompson.
LOL..
Klay = 6'7", NBA All star , elite NBA scorer, great defender
Ronnie = 6'4" .. and was ok in college, could not make the NBA

If you weren’t a basketball fan in the early 90s maybe. But if you paid attention he wasn’t underrated. Livingston was the best recruit of all time possibly but he stayed injured and Henderson was the man.

He was a huge recruit getting him with Livingston was a huge deal but sadly it did not workout and the team failed

Clarence never seen a shot that he didn’t like!

Sparky Wade is the most underrated. He was a wizard with the ball and had arguably the best set shot east of the Mississippi.

Ethan Martin, or Lionel Green.

That's actually not true. Jason and Randy weren't even in the same class. Jason was class of 92 and Ronnie and Randy were class of 93. Jason won every National Player of the Year award in 92 except for Gatorade and Corliss Williamson won that because Gatorade factors gpa in and he was a better student. Randy is my guy but he wasn't ranked higher than Jason as a junior when Jason was a senior.
