Keep in mind, I'm just playing devil's advocate here...but what if the cop described grabbing and subduing an individual as "arresting" but had yet to identify himself or pull cuffs? Could a plainclothes guy AT MARDI GRAS not be mistaken for some asshat trying to beat the shite out of someone?

Again...I'll reference that video from the Quarter. Right after the cops surround the kids and throw them to the ground, several white guys walk up in what looks like an attempt to help the kids from being attacked to first be pushed away and THEN shown ID that they were all cops. In that case, a bystander's first reaction was that what they were witnessing was not an arrest, but a beat down. Not saying that's what happened here...just that I can certainly see a situation where it could.

Agreed...if they clearly knew he was an officer and they attacked him. Of course, I find it hard to believe they'd have attacked an officer on a parade route and they wouldn't have ended up in the hospital or worse...let alone only get charged with resisting.

If this kid gets on campus and makes some major contributions you will sing a different song. This is a misunderstanding and a terrible report that may take away 3 high school students' future. 2 of them who want to be lsu students....one on academic scholarship and the other on athletic scholly. Not very funny for kids who may not be able to have a college education.

During Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the police are always the most dangerous participants, so polcie skeptics have a lot to work with...
On the other hand, I really don't know RJ, but it appears that , at a minimum, he was not trying to avoid conflict.
Some posters seem to claim to know JJ personally. I do not, but note his bust for weed, which seemed spectacularly stupid. The Shady's fight is still unclear about who was the instigator, but others may be more knowledgeable first hand. Clearly, JJ also was not a very good starting QB.
However, seems that some posters jump the gun in finding a genetic predisposition to crime in Ricky.
