Well I'm sorry that the foot soldiers of the SG have to bear the burden of the moron who came up with guitarherogate.

All I can remember is that their excuse for not wanting to put out recycling containers (back in the day before they had them) was that it would put the old man who went around campus digging through garbage cans for cans out of work.
No $hit, I remember that!! (95-99)

I couldn't help but think recycling containers would obviously make the guys job easier. He wouldn't have to sort.

LOL! I remember the bins being a big thing then; also, the campaign to make people stop parking on the oak tree roots. That one was pretty successful but there aren't enough recycling containers around for me. That means the old guy is still having to sort trash.
Personally, I was on a private crusade to get that nasty dude that walked around barefoot to put on a pair of shoes once in a while. I think that would have improved the campus more so than recycling bins.
Sorry if that was you or someone else reading this .

I was at LSU from 1993-1998. My freshman year Stephen Moret (currently the Louisiana Secretary for Economic Development and former President of the Baton Rouge Chamber) was President of Student Government. Two things that he got passed that I appreciated were a fall break - a Friday and Monday with no classes, usually in mid October. Secondly, the Gumbo yearbook had been abandoned a couple of years before I got there. He and his people brought it back in 1994-1995 school year. I was not a SG guy, but I did appreciate what Moret and those guys did that year.

That thing I said about SG never doing anything for me...
well never say never. There's one thing. And its surely appreciated. (except I guess that time I got arrested on fall break wouldn't have happened if there was no fall break, but that's not SG's fault)

really don't see the issue with the guitar hero thing. no one pays attention during halftime because they are a) complaining about the first half or b) paying 4 dollars for a coke.

No. They don't even get paid anymore.

Wow what a profound statement!
Care to elaborate? Why do you think they do it then?
Even though we all KNOW that this is exactly why they do it.

Melissa Hart has done an amazing job as Student Director of Athletics. The fact that you call her a failure and hide behind your call name is pathetic.
Hating on students that work hard and do great things and make a difference at the University is pathetic for someone who sits behind a computer and bitches about stuff instead of taking action on it.
Im sorry Melissa turned you down on a date, and are bitter.
The Guitar Hero tournament was great, and something new. The fact that 2 students out of 20,000 didnt like it should be taken as a compliment.
Get off your fat arse and so something if you dont like what they are doint.
Just cause someone works hard doesn't mean people have to like what they do.

Uh oh, TUba, that sounds kind of conservative. Just kiddin', man. I agree with you on this one.

This was Gieg's administration: 2005. The phones they got were those huge blue ones with the wheel on the side. Their plan didn't have internet, cell service, etc. It was simply a mail function.

I stand corrected then...thought it was in 06 or so. The original FB comment was being facetious anyway
Nonetheless, SG money had no business buying these kid's phones and services.

Yea, in hindsight it wasn't the best idea. The intentions were there though, since those who had them still had to carry around their personal phone. And who wants two phones??
