Every coach since Saban has talked about winning a NC... The expectations have been at LSU since 2000

I expect Coach O to tell the players that. He should demand excellence from his staff. Players need buy in that they are winners.

Aranda stopped the Heisman Tropy Winner and Hurts is nothing

Ugh.. it's not just Hurts or just the Heisman winner. If Jackson had Bama's O line, they would've put up 40 on us easily. Jalen Hurts is "good" for the same reason every Bama QB has been "good" in the past 8 years. It's Bama's offensive line.

Opponents averaged under 16 ppg on the season in 2016, yet we will need to average 31 ppg in 2017?

Asinine post.

LSU needs to have the mindset that the Alabama game is NOT "make-or-break" for them. They were emotionally shattered after the 2015 loss and looked terrible the rest of the season. If they hadn't collapsed, the worst they would have done is a New Year's 6 bowl with a chance at the playoffs.

The team was mentally tougher this year under O's tenure, with the exception of the Florida loss.

If the team beats Alabama but loses to Auburn and Tennessee it won't make the playoffs.

Good for him.

Nothing wrong with confidence and I'm glad he's establishing that mindset.

He's affirming that the playoffs are LSU's goal.

He realizes that as far as results, it's not good enough to be Les Miles with a Cajun accent.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd rather have a coach raise the level of expectations than one that is scared to set the bar high.

I don't think either way (bravado vs quiet confidence) is better than the other. They're just different ways to motivate.

Why doesn't he say, "hey if you want to make the playoffs next year we've got to keep improving."

This reminds me of Miles saying at SEC media days a few years back that it's the best offensive line he's had at LSU. They hadn't even played a down yet. Smh.

We manhandled Bama's oline for 3 quarters until our offense just couldnt sustain anything. This bama oline isnt as dominant as bama lines in the past. Dont get me wrong, its good but Hurts ability to escape pressure made their line seem better than they are.

Bama is going to be beatable next year since they are losing their defensive superstars and are left with a talented, yet inexperienced, group. 2017 Bama is possibly a 2-loss team.

Didn't we say this about them after last year? They lost their qb, their studd center, their senior LB, and two big time linemen not to mention others...
We need to just face the truth that as long as saban is there coaching, our chances of beating them will be small every time.

I really like what coach O has done, and I hope he can change the culture here enough to beat them next year, but to say Bamma might be a two loss team next year.....I just don't see it. That team has the most talent in the entire country...it is "next man up sort of mentally".

Yeah I don't think people understand the way it works with how Bama just reloads every year. When you have the top recruiting class for several years loaded with O and D line talent, it's not like there is a huge drop off year to year

One has to know their audience and which method best motivates that audience.
