The offer of a scholarship is tilted more toward the family because it keeps Smart in BR where his family lives. It's more than the NBA rookie minimum because over a lifetime he can earn more with a degree from LSU than if he never goes to college and has the average NBA career Which isn't long and not as lucrative as most people think.
This is so obvious.
I appreciate the optimism but that is some Nadia Comaneci level mental gymnastics, it is the polar opposite of Ocham's razor.

Everyone knows Wade cheated. Everyone also knows that every successful college basketball coach has either directly or indirectly found ways to pay players to get them to come and play for their university. No one is that dumb to think it is not the norm.
People generally get away with going up to 78-79 mph on the interstate. When they get popped for 83 they often say that everyone is going 80+, but the officer contends that doesn't make it OK be going 83.
Wade got caught going 105. There's no getting away with something that egregious in any situation.

No.
This would be like if Wade made vague insinuations about a time he once went 105 mph on a phone call that was recorded by the FBI as part of an investigation and snippets of a transcript of that phone call were released to the public through the media, while the full contents of the phone call were never heard by the public.

Except he never said 105, he just said he went really fast and then joked about going faster than a police cruiser.

So there is audio of him making an offer with a dollar amount to a player/parent/middleman?

Definitely need a middleman and agents to offer that

If this whole mess results in the NCAA investigating our basketball program - which is more than likely to happen - do you really believe that the full contents of that audiotape, and perhaps others, will not be heard?

The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power. So unless the FBI decides to willfully hand over what they've gathered or its admitted into evidence at trial I don't know how the public would hear it.

You realize they have to get the FBI to essentially hand the tapes over to them, right?

People can also say that they were speeding, but if they are going the speed limit they will not get stopped for it.
Wade was caught on wiretap saying he made a "strong arse offer" to a player. The NCAA did an investigation which revealed that player didn't receive anything.
So what exactly did Wade get caught doing?

Do you think the FBI simply intends to play footsies with the implicated parties? Do you think the FBI is trying to make friends with everyone? Of course not. You people are so naive and delusional that you think the FBI will just say "Let's withhold any and all damning evidence from anyone who may be able to use it in the pursuit of justice."
