how about they play LSU music? which has been my point all along.
instead of establishing really lame traditions based on shitty pop songs.
Sounds good, i agree, but you aren't helping your cause by putting down calling Baton Rouge and calling everyone who likes it a hick.

The first time I remember callin baton rouge played was 2003 vs UGA. And I thought it was great, but over time it has started to annoy the bejesus out of me.
"Born on the bayou" is the best suggestion yet. I also liked Dave Matthews band "Louisiana Bayou" that they played at least once last year. Just please take away the nickleback cover from the pregame video!
And for the love of god why would you suggest Cajun music? That is the epitome of backwoods hick music

Someone doesn't realize that he is the minority in this situation
the fact that you can't hold a legitament arguement proves you are just a troll
an just because you ignore everyone elses points, that doesnt make you right.... I see everyone else confronting your logic and all you do is come up with another weak excuse why YOU don't like something.... You are a prime example of fail and no matter how much you bitch... Come Saturday in death valley YOU will be the one pouting while we all sing along

i don't care. sounds like they seem to agree it's not a misnomer.
i just don't want to be represented as hicks or thugs or anything else to rest of the country.
if we're going to represent louisiana, do it with the the things that culturally and historically make louisiana what it is. not with shitty contrived commercial appealing to appease a demographic.
lsu and louisiana has more than enough history and music and tradition to not have to resort to bs like that.

This is what is funny, he's all down on hicks and their music, but wants traditional Louisiana music.
I don't see how this will work. Don't tell me hicks and cajuns are different. Cajuns are hicks with hot sauce and a different accent.

count the votes again?
how many people want the song to be replaced, and how many song want the song to remain. by my count, more people want it to be replaced.
the people who want it replaced would make us the majority.
and what points have i ignored? your only point is that you like it.
You ignore my points that the songs do nothing to promote LSU, louisiana culture, louisiana musicians or musical history, and in fact come from people who have little to do with louisiana at all.

I always laugh that we're celebrating a song about Garth cheating on his wife.

BECAUSE IT"S AUTHENTIC YOU HICK frickS.
It's music made in Louisiana by Louisianians.
It's part of our culture, our history and our heritage.
At least it would be honest.

It's not about how anybody perceives us--it's just really a shitty song. It's yuppy country music. Gay shite that was written and recorded specifically to lead Kidd Kraddick into and out of a commercial break. It's a song that has no cultural value, and one that nobody will give a shite about 100 years from now.
Having said that, I'm convinced that by the end of the day, chowell and karma are going to kiss.

I spent last night in the arms
Of a girl in Louisiana
And though I'm out on the highway
My thoughts are still with her
Such a strange combination of a woman and a child
Such a strange situation stoppin' every hundred miles
Callin' Baton Rouge
A replay of last night's events
Roll through my mind
Except a scene or two
Erased by sweet red wine
And I see a truck stop sign ahead
So I change lanes
I need a cup of coffee
And a couple dollars change
Callin' Baton Rouge
Operator won't you put me on through
I gotta' send my love down to Baton Rouge
Hurry up won't you put her on the line
I gotta' talk to the girl just one more time
Hello Samantha dear, I hope you're feelin' fine
And it won't be long until I'm with you all the time
But until then I'll spend my money up right down to my last dime
Callin' Baton Rouge
Operator won't you put me on through
I gotta' send my love down to Baton Rouge
Hurry up won't you put her on the line
I gotta' talk to the girl just one more time
Callin' Baton Rouge
Sweet Baton Rouge, my Baton Rouge
YEAAAAAH! LET"S PLAY FOOOTBALL!
I got drunk and fricked a girl in louisiana and then I left! frick YEAH GO TIGEEEERRRRS!

How about they play like, oh i dunno, something that has to do with LSU like our, oh i dunno, fight song. Not some shitty good-'ol-boy country song that happens to have the words "Baton Rouge" in the title.
Why do people condone shitty, cheesy, made up traditions?

Your going off People who happened to open this thread.... Ur right that's a high majority of tiger stadium... When over half of the stadium is singing along it makes your few votes on tigerdroppings a little less notable
