Daniels was being asked to carry out the whole team considering LSU defense could not stop anyone. He knew he needed to score a TD every series.

I get it Nuss does not have the starts but he grew up with a dad that played QB in the NFL. His dad had coached NFL QBs. He had to have learned something from his dad and watching football all his life.

What Nuss is doing is trying to make a play out of nothing. He wants the highlight reel rather than just going to the safer option or even running when it is there. His best game was against Arkansas bc he threw to the receivers open underneath. The run game worked bc Arkansas could not just load the box. Nuss needs to take what the defense is giving him. Most times he takes unnecessary risks.

I agree with most of what you said, but not this. Our lack of rushing success isn’t because teams are loading the box. That may have been true briefly, early in the season. But not now.

Arkansas game was the only game where LSU had success running the ball. Nuss was very efficient. Arkansas could not just load the box to stop the run bc Nuss was hitting all the passes underneath. Durham had his best game running in that game. Nuss had 0 turnovers and was very effective. He threw 0 TDs but the run game and mid range passing helped LSU control the game. The defense got turnovers deep in Arkansas territory which led to quick points.

Nuss is good enough to function without a running game. Not all QBs can say that.

He is not good enough to function with poor pass protection. He will make way too many mistakes. He will lose his footwork. He will abandon the simple throws.

This is where we are.

His turnovers are inexcusable … a good high school qb would not make throw into these types of interceptions. Not trying to pick on him but I truly believe he is a little slow.

I agree with that too. But, maybe coverages aren’t so tight when safeties have to come down to stop the run.

Asking him to a) run when it’s wide open for a first down and b) not throw the ball straight into a defender whether it’s in the red zone or off his back foot when he could’ve thrown out of bounds, is not asking too much.

The dude plays like a retard. He should play not like a retard.

I completely agree. He has asked to play an absolute perfect game By making all of the high-risk plays and not making any mistakes at the same time. And this is without a running game.

nobody is asking him to keep throwing bombs on 3rd and 4 when he has guys open underneath. or backpeddle. forcing shite to covered guys.

he needs to learn how to read a defense.

Repeat after me…don’t throw it to the other team on first and goal from the 5.

Nuss plays the position afraid of taking a hit. He will not step into a throw if there’s pressure. He’s always fading away or he moves out of the pocket too early. Bad throws and/or bad decisions follow.

In fairness, he isn’t being helped much by our lack of running game and overall play calling. It’s not all on him.

I think you’re missing my point. Nobody is loading the box on us right now regardless of whether Nuss is taking the short stuff. They haven’t needed to, because we haven’t been able to consistently run against light boxes either.

He was on the roster when BK arrived and what did he do immediately when he was hired? Hit the portal and brought in the style of qb he really wanted in JD.

I don’t think he has the skillset or is capable of running exactly what our coaches would like to put on the field. He’s the best on the roster though and who they should continue rolling with

Repeat after me.

Nuss needs to run to open space when it’s there. Help the offensive line.

We also need to call better plays so he can get the ball out sooner.

I agree with you. It’s not all his fault.

Nuss has thrown 50 or more times in only TWO games. (1) 50 against Texas A&M, and (2) 51 against Ole MIss.

He leads the conference with 375 attempts. The next closest is Carson Beck with 321. 54 less in the same amount of games.

Third is Jaxson Dart with 298 and an extra game!

For whatever reason Sloan is terrified to attack between the hashes with any consistency. Yes, Nuss has a good arm and quick release, but LONG sideline throws are tough to complete with any consistenc

What made Burrow elite in year two was his ability to read a defense and attack the middle of the field.

Either Sloan is scared or perhaps Nuss struggles identifying defensive tendencies and they know that from practice and maybe protecting him. Look at the int in the end zone last game..

Can he make that jump in season 2? Don't know.

If you do the run game opens way up.

I think at this point you let him check out of sets to quick slants and go from there.

Having Chester get blown up and having a man push the middle like they have been is tough.
