re: Remember when we had to beat a top ranked 58-5 A&M team 2x in 1989 to advance to the CWS?

That's impressive. How old were you? 8 or 9 years old? Good memory

You graduated LSU 12 years after finishing HS?

Skip put Ben in the outfield to bring in another pitcher to face one batter, then brought Ben back to the mound - listened to that game at work on the radio!

No, but read it happened.

I'm sure it's not unprecedented.

No he didn't. LSU opened up a comfortable lead and Skip pulled Ben from the mound but put him in the outfield "in case" A&M rallied. They did not, so Ben did not re-enter game 1 of the championship round. However, Ben did pitch late in the final game.
And to the poster that said Ben got an at bat, you are wrong. Ben was actually on deck when the last out of LSU's last at bat was made in that game. LSU closed out the first victory that next half inning.

Difference is we had a 3rd baseman from Holy Cross step up and hit the double to put us up vs Aggie.
This year we have a Catlick High 3rd baseman.
NOLA HS Baseball > BR HS Baseball
HC > CHS
Therefore, Doubtful that we pull this off.
When I see someone posting about anything sports related and claims to be military academy fan, I just chuckle. I mean, Army and Navy were relevant 50-60 years ago, but today.... not so much. So please, Carville and IndianinBR, post less.

We listened on the radio in the kitchen of Brewbachers on Nicholson, sophomore year at LSU flipping burgers.

When I see someone that is so insecure that he uses his degree in his username to somehow try to impress strangers on an internet message board, I double over laughing. So, for you to question anyone else's military service affiliation like it relates to that service academy's athletic program leads me to reply a big frick You, you pansy. What Branch of the military did you serve our country in?
Yeah...thought so.

Yes, Luis Garcia 'Pillage The Village'. There's a great documentary on it somewhere.
