If you're considering making the trip just a reminder that the Saints play the Bucs on New Years Eve in Tampa.

That would be pretty cool. When LSU played Alabama for the National Championship on 1/9, I got to see the Saints play the Lions in the playoffs in the Dome that same weekend.

I doubt they want LSU after the no show from the fans vs Iowa in 2014

That was a miserable day, but we were there getting fricked up in the rain at 8 a.m.

My last two trips to Florida for bowl games were miserable with rain (Penn State in Orlando) and (Iowa in Tampa), but Saints - Bucs would add some appeal. I've been to tons of road college games but never a pro game. Hell, even if LSU landed in Orlando, the Saints game would be worth the 1 hour, 20 minute drive to Tampa. Bucs are terrible. Tickets will be dirt cheap. Saints will be jockeying for playoff position.

Wife and I booked this trip 3 weeks ago. We have done many LSU away games, (flying to Tenn this Friday), but never a Saints away game.....so we booked it.
Then, I saw the Outback bowl was on Monday. We pushed out flight back from Tampa till late hoping LSU gets the bid!!
Love the opportunity to get a chance to watch both in one weekend.

Could've gone down as the greatest week in Louisiana sports history. Saints beat the Lions but then it all went to shite with the LSU game and probably the best Saints team ever losing to the 49ers in the Divisional round.

A friend of mine ended up trash-talking Matt Stafford (while too drunk to recognize him) for wearing UGA gear on Canal.

I'm thinking Jacksonville most likely destination since it's been awhile since LSU has been there and LSU has recently been to Outback and Citrus.

Would love a game against Michigan, that might move the meter a little to get fans interested in that trip and if it was in Tampa you might see a nice LSU contingent with the Saints playing as well.

Playoffs are killing most bowls now. Players sitting out, fans not traveling going to get a lot worse for most bowls before it gets any better.

I think you're overthinking this.

Half the SEC is horrendous and/or just fired its coach. LSU is one of the few appealing SEC teams the 2nd tier bowls will have to choose from.

Saw a projection with LSU playing Ohio State in the outback bowl. A 10 win season with a win over OSU in a bowl game would be ideal and could land us back in the top 10 at the end of the season

I would 100% be there if we make it to the Outback bowl. Talk about a great football weekend.

That Saints/Lions playoff game might have been the loudest game I have ever been to, from a standpoint of "consistent" loudness. I was at the Earthquake game, but that noise only lasted for a short period of time. I left the Saints/Lions game with head pounding and ears ringing...and it was worth every minute of it. Couple that with the LSU Band being there for pregame and halftime, and that was one hell of a night all around.

You do realize that was the only time it has EVER rained in the history of the Citrus Bowl? Tampa ... Doesn't rain at that bowl game either. Sounds like a YOU problem.

I think opponent drives LSU fan interest as much as anything. LSU vs. Michigan would be YUGE. LSU vs. Indiana, Iowa, or Mich. State....MEH.

I was in Tiger Band then. Apparently there was a miscommunication in that the band was told rehearsal had to be done at a certain time before the game started. What was actually said was that ALL pregame rehearsal had to be finished including the practice of bringing the gigantic American flag out on the field which had their practice after us.

So that time rolled around and we were running a couple minutes late. Meanwhile Matt Stafford was 10 yards from me glaring me down. Eventually he said something like "this fricking band won't get off my fricking field" because he was relegated to throwing passes on the sidelines. Funniest moment of my life.

Here's the story

We aren't going to the Outback Bowl. We will be 8-4 or 7-5 going into the bowl selections. Independence Bowl or Belk Bowl.
