You need the jimmy and joes.

While we have talented players, we do need bigger and badder players on both sides of the line.

Saban said this awhile back. There is a reason their is a weight class in boxing. The heavy weights will beat the lower weight classes every time.

You can't blame last night on scheme only. Is there any scheme that would have resulted in us winning?

Arkansas is not Bamas rival and I'm pretty sure Saban wasn't a former coach there. And everyone in North America knows Bama gets up for the LSU game.

I guess Bama gets up for LSU. I’m not positive, since none of those players have ever come close to losing to LSU. Auburn is Bamas true rival, and Auburn has had much better recent success.

Did talent make us lose? Yes. Did talent make us get shutout and completely embarrassed? No.

Thats because the scheme that LSU runs relies on talent at the line positions that we just dont have. You scheme around what players you have. Not based on what you want to run.
A decent point but scheme doesn't exactly "work" against Bama when the ball gets batted down at the LOS every time the QB gets rid of the ball quickly.

That doesn't matter when Nick Saban is the head coach.

I certainly won’t argue the OL needs an upgrade. I think talent alone won’t do the job. Also takes creativity.
Why are people having a hard time understanding this?

Are we ever going to out recruit Alabama on the line of scrimmage? Probably not. This is what Miles never understood. We are talented enough on the line of scrimmage to be a one loss team this year. Having a more imaginative offense gives us the best chance to beat Alabama. Unless you guys think we'll just magically bring in NFL freaks on the line in a year.

Why are people so against having a more imaginative offense? This offense has been terrible this year.

So we won't out recruit Saban.

Guess what gives us the best chance to beat him?

A mobile, accurate QB and a really good O and D line.

I think the big thing with a lot of fans is, we scored zero points. Even Tennessee, the arm pit of the SEC for last several years put up 21 on them. I dare say our talent is better than theirs! If I’m not mistaken, we are the only shutout they have all year. Scheme has got to be some part of it and has been for several years!

We are not going to have a better line than Alabama. You've already said that we won't out recruit them. So that's out. I would love a better QB, but we need an OC who can develop him and have some imagination on offense.

Purdue didn't have the talent that Ohio State had, but they had a scheme with creativity. The talent isn't so low, that zero points is acceptable. That is a stupid thought process. No creativity, slow developing pass plays, only passing on obvious passing downs, quarterback holding the ball too long, and play action when the run game is not successful are the reasons that the offense is the worst in the conference. This offense couldn't score touchdowns against La Tech, UF, MSU, UGA, and parts of the Southeastern game. Were all of those teams more talented too?

Thank you sir. Best post I've seen today.

And who has been our recruiting coordinator for how many years? The last 2 cycles as HC? Him
Bemoaning the lack of talent as he threw his players under the bus last night was ironic. While he’s FOS saying the scheme is fine, the lack of talent he highlighted is on him.

I actually don't blame O. Nobody is going to out recruit Saban. I didn't blame Miles for it. I blamed Miles for not bringing in someone who can scheme well against them on offense. Now we're running into the same shite.

Why are people not seeing this?

And it's even worse than with Miles. Our offense was WAY down in the rankings before Alabama and he SE has not scored a point against them.

Why not get those lineman AND a better offensive coordinator? Why not have both?

Guys, O is trying to out muscle Alabama. It ain't happening. Miles tried it for years. It doesn't work.

No we are not. I like Burrow. Think he is a gamer, but he is not going to win games. He can however loose them. Let Matt Malk or Flynn. We had OC that game planned to their and the teams strengths. We have not had that for several years. We have not developed a QB in forever and I do not think it is because all of them have been bad. Law of averages says you get lucky on one every now and then. The last OC we had develop one was Fisher. I also like E but he is not an OC. He is just over his head!!!

Hard disagree. It’s more scheme than recruiting st this point. Our defense can play with them if they weren’t on the field for the majority of the game.

Exactly right. I just don’t understand the fear of a modern offense. Even fricking Saban evolves his offense. I’m gonna go nuts.
