They keep using "former NFL players" in these headlines. How incredibly misleading . EVERYONE who has grown up following football knows an NFL player is a player who made the roster and dressed out for games.Period. End of story. That is how just about everyone has defined a "former pro player" forever. And to try and make a distinction between mini camp and training camp is just as ridiculous. And all of this over small group of players who were wronged by the NCAA and the knowledge that it will not happen again after this year makes it all the more ridiculous. Make no mistake about it. This is and always was and LSU/Kiffen thing.

Only players who still have eligibility left "declare" for the NFL draft, so you can't use that. The 5 for 5 rule has a clear line, which will be easier to enforce after this year. It's the 2022 class that is all fricked up because of the timing of the NCAA rule change this year.

All of that is fair, but the SEC took issue with the eligibility as it relates to “NFL” players returning to college and who is considered an NFL player.
Chambliss case was focused on years of eligibility/medical redshirt credit.
Whether we like it or not - no one is going to view those cases as similar situations even though it is BS.

That’s why the SEC is going after LSU with the First Amendment angle or that Lane conspired with the players to file a suit against the SEC.
They know they can’t go with the,” we don’t let pros play college sports” because they’ve already allowed it.

The whole thing is a hypocritical sham.
The sooner Congress gives some organization (hopefully not the NCAA) anti-trust exemption to make and enforce actual rules that can be applied equitably and won’t face constant legal challenges, college football can heal.
