The present is part of the future.

If you look at things long term only what happens to team morale; recruiting etc after you loose another game or two.

Recruiting is not like draft picks - You cant tank the season for a higher draft pick.

Yea throw him to the wolves next season having not a single game playing experience against a team that will probably win the ACC this year. I don’t buy it.

He does have experience.

I just don't think that getting 120 snaps against the next 3 teams would really do more than getting 20 or 30.

Either way Miami will most likely be a different animal entirely.

The point being, if he's going to be good he'll be good whether or not we jump the Etling ship now or when we have to.

Hurts came in to relieve Blake Barnett in his first collegiate game against a decent USC team and accounted for 4 TDs himself in their destruction.

If Brennan is going to be the savior we all hope and think he will be.. He doesn't need "tune ups" against some bad teams.

Serious question: why just the QB? Why not get other positions ready by benching every senior?

The idea of "let's try to get Brennen a few more snaps" is fine.....but him starting is basically a coach telling every senior on the team they don't matter so you're giving up.

The juniors deciding on whether to return will take notice. Sure recruits will too.

OP, go tell all the seniors that the rest of the season will be played simply for Brennan's development. And you high light one play to justify benching DE. I can describe 4-5-6 + more over the course of the season that justifies keeping him as the starting QB.

a ship at a dock is said to be berthed. a woman gives birth to a child (except in the national enquirer where they give birth to aliens). there is no birth of a football game unless you are referring to the very first committee meeting where the idea of the bowl was voted for. LSU will not receive a cotton bowl birth unless a child is actually born at the game and the parents donate it to LSU. then LSU would receive a cotton bowl birth (unless they turn it down ; those little bastards are expensive.

No doubt. What a joke. All of a sudden some on the Rant are ok with a potential 6-6 record. Please give me a break.

You don't think the seniors outside of DE see how inept he is and would understand going with another chance? We should with these with either at QB if we run like we should and play D. DE doesn't make the team better, he holds them back. Being a senior isn't a good reason to start. Play in the last home game, maybe.

Link to where he was named the starter for next year? If he is so good to be proclaimed the future starter shouldn't he be starting now? He can't even beat out Etling. I don't know what games you guys watch but the little action he has seen hasn't impressed me. Sure he has made some throws that looked good but look at who he was competing against, Etling. But to Etling's credit he has few interceptions in way more attempts than Brennan.

The bottom line is that the head coach has made it public knowledge that Brennan has not won the job in practice.

Just hand him the job on a platter and how does that impact everything.

If Brennan is all that and a bag of chips then he needs to go win the job.

Etling is a good option to keep a steady ship. Honestly I think we should give Brennan every third Series from here on out. That would be a good comfortable way to ease him in. And if we go up big early, just let him take it all the way from there.

Brennan will probably never start at LSU.

Narcisse will win the job this spring.

If your job was on the line, you’d play the guy you think gave you the best chance to win now. There are enough Orgeron doubters already. He can’t afford to lose any of these last games. Next year will take care of itself.

Coaches job in the immediate future is to win games now. Not win them next year. We have a chance to go 10-3 for the first time in several years.

An extra 4 games isn’t going to make or break Brennan. We have him for another 3 full years. He’ll get plenty of reps this summer and spring.
