I keep hearing CBK talk about how many new players we have on defense, but that's happening all over the country because of the portal. I understand it takes time to get adjusted but we're almost to the halfway point, not to mention the weeks before the season they had to practice, and we're still making simple, stupid mistakes and that shouldn't be happening. IMO, that's coaching!

You felt you had to say all of this to tell us our defense isn’t good?

We have 9 guys in the 2nd and 3rd levels who’ve played between 28 and 50 college games and a couple others in the low 20s. Up front our Dline had guys with 42, 28, 26 and 24 games played prior to the year. These groups don’t even account for some of our best players either so this BS he keeps saying about no experience is factually false.

He’s said before new to LSU. It’s not complete BS.

Yep. The problem is we’ve got a bunch of talented and experienced individual players on defense who haven’t learned to play cohesively as a unit. That’s on the coaches.

I don’t care if they played at LSU or wherever, the coaches had an entire offseason to get them to gel together.

Technically true and I get why he’s saying the stuff he does but If you’re gonna call your 5th year transfers “inexperienced” get out of the portal and recruit more freshman.

Exactly, what’s the point in getting experienced guys if that experience is meaningless? It’s a load of BS.

It’s good that we’ll be home 5/6 in the back half of the season. That matters, too.

Yes, that should help a lot. The tough tests are coming though and we have to at least find an identity and some stability on D.

Really, all we need is a little bit of defense. I wasn’t a JD5 fan but he’s slinging it this year. A little bit of defense will do it.

Couldn’t agree more. Not sure why all of the sudden House is in favor again. I’ll take and enjoy a win but the defense is historically bad and needs change.

2019 offense probably wins the natty with this year's defense. Nobody was going to outscore that offense.

Do you not recall the auburn game that year? Defense won that one for us.

It’s because we won. The mob on the Rant is big on feelings above all.

I hate the old “defense wins championships” hokum. The 70s are over, let it go.

It’s not offense or defense that wins championships. It’s being elite at one thing and above average (or better) at the other thing wins championships. The greatest college football team of all time — LSU 2019 — had an elite offense and an above average defense.

That D was holding top 5 teams to half their offensive output at the end of the season. People can’t seem to separate the portion of the season when that D was healthy from when they were in shambles health wise or when Orgeron was meddling in the D from after he let Aranda do his thing.

Are there really people on here who are saying this? You’d have to be beyond retarded to wanna keep House.

Even when they weren’t healthy they dominated at least one half of the game to give Joe and Co some cushion. And yes when they got healthy they were great.

I remember people bashing Delpit when the guy was so hurt he couldn’t even change directions without almost coming to a complete stop. It’s just crazy that people still don’t realize what happened that season.

Uhhhh the last 2 Georgia teams. Last year their offense was above average with great defense. But the year before that was average offense great defense.

Winning the CFP semifinal 42-41 was great defense or even 50-30 in the SECCG?
