Reaction if it’s Brian O’Connor of Virginia?

His name hasn’t been mentioned much, but this guy checks all the boxes. Would not be shocking if this was Scott’s “out of the blue” hire.
He sure checks all the boxes—at 50, the right combination of youth and experience. He was PM’s assistant at Notre Dame, 1995-2001. Not that that means anything but you’d think Paul would be behind it and by extension, likely the Bertman Mafia.
Highly decorated resume including five trips to Omaha and won it all in 2015.To me, anybody who builds a baseball powerhouse in ACC country or in the North is one you imagine “what could he do at LSU?”
So maybe he has just enough Mainieri ties to call off the Bertman-Mainieri factions from Scott’s back.
So add him to the list (Corbin, Vitello, McDonnell, Bakich, Johnson, Godwin) that I’d be very happy to see in the LSU dugout.

Would be happy with him.
He's as solid as McDonnel.

He’s a fantastic coach.
Ranters will only look at his CWS record then claim he’s below their mythical standard.

The last 3 years would have me worried, basically he is similar to CPM. I would take him over bianco, but wouldnt be excited

Here's my quote from 3/29/21
quote:
It has already been Decided. It's going to be Brian O'Connor from Virginia. Met a guy the other night who had Paul in his wedding and he said when he retires he already got a guarantee from LSU that they would hire him.

This is a joke right? It’s like you want a unicorn… a 27 y/o coach who has been on all the national championship teams since graduating school himself, has coached up all americans every season, and can pull kids away from mlb teams.

50= youth?
Young enough that he could coach here at least 15 years.

If we're trying to replace a coach who lacked in the player development aspect the later part of his career, how we would rectify that issue by hiring a guy who has a terrible reputation in the baseball industry for player development?
Teaching hitting and pitching styles that are at least antithetical to professional development but can also be dangerous for the student athlete.
He's able to get a certain caliber of student to UVA that may or may not care as much about their athletic career after they leave school. LSU can't lean on the academics in the sthame way and e players that come here (at least the really good ones) expect to be developed into pro prospects.
He would be a bad fit from a culture, recruiting, player development, and energy standpoint.
