I expect Rasco to be outstanding (all-SEC?). Hunter/Allen are unknowns.

Our D was very good through the Bama game and mediocre after that. Ok, sure the O could've done more but so could the D.

For us to be great on D this year we have to become dominant in one phase so Chief cab build around that. In '11, was it largely Brockers/Logan on the inside. If Freak blows-up (which I expect) and Ego proves to be good (which I also expect), I think our D will be great in '13.

lmao

Based on what? Because if it's eyeball test, that's about the only thing Hunter has shown. I do know he didn't look very impressive in most drills during the spring. I'm worried about that spot.

Maybe because Miles, Haley, and Chavis have faith in them. That should be enough. Especially since Haley is the best D line coach in the country and we have enough talent to field two solid teams.

I agree actually

Mingo and Montgomery had all the talent but not enough motivation (Montgomery taking plays off and Mingo not playing physical enough)

We need some hungry hit you in your face ends, and we should see an improvement this year.

I don't know anything about Hunter but I do know I was disappointed with Sam and Mingo last season. Sam has admitted he didn't give 100% all of the time and Mingo had a lot of off sides in his rush to get that sack. He seemed to overrun the play a lot of times also. Might have been just good play calling on the other side but it made him look bad at times.

You think Jules Winnfield and Winston Wolfe would be better DEs?

Rasco/Hunter > Mingo/Montgomery

I guess we will find out.

I really believe we will be improved on both sides this year. Especially on sacks. Hunter could be one of the best ever to play at LSU.

We don't need them to each get double digit sacks. Just get pressure and listen to your coaches. We will be fine. The defense has a lot of talent. I'm sure they can get it together.

To the OP:

It's very possible. I remember many games last year where the QB could sit back there and play chess or make a Sandwhich. I am quite certain that our DE play will not be WORSE.

I think hunter might be a step slower then mingo, but more physical. I think rasco will just flat out be better then Montgomery.
