I think our overall LB play this year will be able to bail them out for a change.

Not if Welter starts at MLB. That dude just gets pushed around out there.

I really believe we will be improved on both sides this year.

I think so too Montgomery was great but he was a nut case and Mingo was just coming into his own. I like Rasco and Hunter plus throw in a couple of the other guys, we should be fine.

He needs a bit more action on his left arm.

I was going to say. His left arm is way more veiny than his right.

Hunter might not even start

Ben Love ?@BenLoveTSD 8m Miles says Jermauria Rasco and Danielle Hunter will line up first at DE. No Jordan Allen mention. He's excited about Tashawn Bower. #LSU

Fall camp hasn't even begun and you already think the defensive depth chart is figured out. Awesome.

Nothing like unbridled optimism. Hunter was a beast on special teams but I'm not sure he ever played a meaningful snap on defense last year.

Sam redshirted then got hurt. What meaningful snaps did he play?

All these players didnt play meaningful snaps at one point. shite minter played a lot and no one saw his production coming. In fact everyone thought mlb would be our weakest position on defense. well before tm7 got booted.

It's a huge stretch to say that Rasco/Hunter will be better than their predecessors.

I don't think it's a stretch. The predecessors were a bit disappointing at times last year. I don't think it's too crazy to say Montgomery was a disappointment last year.

Did you no watch the spring game??

But Im excited about Rasco and Hunter too. Rasco has played and looked good and should be damn good and our best DE. Hunter hasnt. Lets hold off on saying they will be better than Mingo and Monty. Just pump the brakes a bit.

Mingo/Montgomery didn't exactly lead the world in sacks or tackles.

This. It's not debatable that they were very fine ends, but I remember plenty of times last season where there wasn't much pressure on the QB (which wasn't completely their faults) and/or I wouldn't hear either of those names for a while.

They were very good, but it's not like their production last year is irreplaceable this year. It'll be very interesting to see who plays and who does well.
