Rant; if CPM is removed from his post. I’m in for Matt Hobbs, pitching coach at Arkansas

Great pitching coach. Young guy. Been under Van Horn who is a legend. He’ll be a great coach IMO.

Good choice, but if I'm Woodward, I'm flying to ECU and I'm not leaving until Godwin gets on the plane.

This is only his 3rd year under Van Horn. He's also never been a head coach. You aren't going to find a ton of support for giving a guy his first head coaching job at LSU.

How about that small guy that does the Shriner hospital commercials ? He seems like he is happy and energetic most of the time.

Plus Lil Shriner knows his lines and how to stare in the camera, he does what he’s told!

Isn’t Goodwin a Manieri Spawn?

Smoke Redux??

He has been at ECU I am curious why he hasn't moved up at some point.

The coach at UK with in like two years was named SEC coach of the year. He had never been a head coach.

I still want Vitello and know that he'll be special but Godwin I wouldn't hate as a 3rd or 4th option.

Do a bit more research.

Arkansas fans are still of the thought that Hobbs is still trying to prove himself. Starting pitchers haven’t really improved a ton since he has been at Arkansas. Some would suggest Wicklander and Noland haven’t gotten any better under his tutelage, and actually regressed. As of now, Hobbs seems to be still living off of what Johnson had set up in Fayetteville.

My opinion is he is happy being at his Alma Mater

Yes, there are tons of examples of first time head coaches succeeding. There are also plenty more of them failing. For all of those saying "we are LSU - we should dominate college baseball" you would think that would mean attracting the most proven head coaches. Not taking a flyer on someone with no experience.

My first call would be to Lubbock

I would Also call some other SEC schools and just see if we can force them to give raises. Never hurts to make other teams dig into their resources.

Why not both? They're friends and they used to work together at Mizzou. Hobbs is at Arkansas from Vitello's recommendation.

Hobbs is the guy that built the Wake Forest pitching lab.

Mizzou could have has Vitello at HC, Hobbs as pitching coach, and current Padres manager Jayce Tingler on their coaching staff. But they went with Steve Beiser instead.

How's that working out?

I doubt he would leave Ole Miss, but would be a great hire. I doubt Godwin would leave his alma mater, but another great hire. I don't think ECU will be able to match some of the offers that would come his way.
