Why was the holder placing the ball sideways?!

He is really solid when confident. He got started off pretty rocky for us when the team missed that xtra point against Florida State 3 years ago in NO.

He’s never had a big leg

Coming up short of the goal posts on a 48 yarder is pathetic

First miss last night was on a botched hold. Second miss seemed to be on Ramos, he sliced it right. Third misfire was the most embarrassing attempt I've seen on a FG in LSU history, and seemed to portend the coming collapse of the team in all phases of the game.

Well, that's 9 points left on the field. Not ruling out the likelihood that A&M could have come back from a 26-7 deficit, but I think the ridiculous FG attempt midway through the 3rd quarter had a profound psychological effect on both teams

Ramos is fine. Over producing for his talent actually.

No fricking shite, my son had better range as an 8th grader.

Last night wasn’t on Ramos. The protection and snaps sucked.

LSU should be able to get a kicker that can get distance further than 47 yards.

Kelly is really bad at things like controlling the field.

For the third straight year, we have the worst special teams in the conference. Thank God we consistently put kickoffs in the end zone because we suck at coverage on both KO's and punts. And we cant punt for shite, which might be a good thing because we would allow more returns of instead of the 32 yard kick that the return man has to sprint up for to catch.

We would a coach strive to be elite on offense and defense and settle on mediocrity from special teams? And no one can say with a straight face we are even mediocre on teams.

A little context, the 2 he missed was from 48 and I believe 49, they weren’t chip shots. He had an opportunity to redeem himself but the long snapper fubarred that one.

The hold on the first kick wasn’t good. That one had no chance, either. That’s not on Ramos.

If only we had a special teams coach that , you know, could focus on the the strengths of the special teams players

Special Teams coaches aren’t kicking technique coaches. They handle sets, personnel, blocking schemes, and play operation. Kickers go get training at off-season camps and from consultants teams bring in to work with them. Unless the ST Coach was a kicker or punter, they aren’t going to be worth a damn teaching a college kicker.

Who is our back up? Is it Corbello Jr. or Aeron Burrell? Or maybe Dibert

That’s not actually true. Burrell and Thomas are about as elite as you can get at what they do. Thomas doesn’t get too many opportunities because of that, but everyone knows what he can do from his time at State.

I’m not saying it’s not bad or that those two balance things out. I’m just saying we aren’t the worst in the league because of them. And Ramos isn’t the big issue, either. Multiple misses, including one last night, were because of the snapper and/or holder fricking up.

Todd needs to be replaced for both of his duties during the bye week. He is awful and is messing up badly in two different areas. And the long snapper needs to re-earn his job. He’s far too inconsistent for something that should be automatic. Those two are definitely performing at a bottom of the SEC level.

Both holds were bad.

With respect, he didn’t slice it, it was a weak push. He over compensated mentally from the early pull hook, and when you watch his motion he doesn’t get through the ball at all. His hips are stuck, and he effectively “cuts” the ball too low producing a weak push.

I kicked in college. It’s hard. And mental.

Hope he figures his head out.

Quit bashing Ramos. He is VERY consistent for a college kicker when he is in his range.

Our 10M a year fraud kept putting him in positions (three times, mind you) where he was outside of his range and he missed.

That's on coaching.

Just like trying to take a QB that is off and consistently calling a deep pass on first down.

Our coaches aren't smart. At all.

That is kind of the point though. We aren't sorely lacking in talent with the specialists themselves (except punting) but its the lack of preparation and aggressiveness. We have definitely put out the dumpster fire of 2022, but we are no where near even pretty good.

Thomas is a great example of the lack of foresight and since of urgency within the unit as a whole. We took a potential elite weapon and turned him into a fair catching robot.

His range is clearly limited,

And that is well-documented. That is why it was such a bullshite call on 3rd down not to try to get it at least a few yards closer for him.

Yeah, Ramos missed the kicks but they were at the far end of his range. It's like me putting from 3 feet versus 5 feet.
