re: Rabalais: Despite baggage, ex-LSU coach Les Miles deserves college Hall of Fame shot

Did you forget the week prior LSU had loss in OT to Bama? The team was totally demoralized to play a jacked up Arkansas team in the bitter cold. Interestingly, LSU still managed to end the season by beating up Texas a&m.

LSU has supported and stuck by Verge Ausberry, so they can nominate and support Les Miles for the HOF.

100% deserves to be in. Glory days of LSU and one of a kind personality

Deserves to be in the HOF for what? For doing les with more?
Les's recruiting was elite and that helped him win a lot of games, but he drastically underachieved relative to all the talent he had.

He’s definitely in the running for most talent wasted over the course of a career.

Les was detrimental in the overall picture. Screw Les.

His unwillingness to adapt on offense meant that he was ultra predictable and when we faced superior or evenly matched talent, we lost a lot.
Let’s not forget that he was the only coach in the NCAA who didn’t understand the game clock in crunch time. That man did some embarrassing shite!

If you think Les is the only coach who had issues with game time management, clock management, etc. you don't watch much NCAA football. I see bonehead decisions weekly at big universities.

Should NOT be in the Hall…
The amount of talent he “wasted” is an embarrassment to the profession.

I guess time erases memories. The dumbass called for a spike with 0.01 on the clock. His clock management was horrific and do you miss toss dive?
He won because the program Saban left him and the brand recruited on auto-pilot.

I think that brain tumor was slowly coming back

Arkansas, Ole Miss, and eventually State got him fired, not Bama

Les has not played one card correctly.

I think there are fairly strong arguments both in favor and against Les' enshrinement.
Where I come down is: is it possible to tell the story of cfb's most financially successful (and arguably most popular) era without including Les Miles? I think the answer is no for both statistical and narrative reasons. Those LSU teams over a decade period created some of the most memorable moments in cfb history - some for terrible reasons of course - with historically great players.
I wanted him gone as much as anyone after the Ole Miss and Tennessee debacles among others, but as others point out, he is one Drew Brees passed physical away from 2 or 3 titles and a radically altered GOAT conversation. I wont be broken up about it if he doesnt make it because of how things shook out in the end, but his level or success and the drama with which it was achieved makes a stronger case for inclusion than not.

Considering the lack of development, disgrace to offensive football, and LSU falling into the middle of the SEC pack despite HUGE talent advantages, he unequivocally does not belong recognized as a college great (or we’re drastically diluting what that word means)
His successor at OSU has far elevated the program since he took over
His predecessor at LSU set the standard that he let the program fall below
We won’t even talk about Kansas
Absolutely not

Deserves is a tricky word.
