Auburn ripped it off from Oklahoma to Nebraska. Other SEC schools picked it up. Katy Perry had her manager tell her to say it on College Gameday and that's when it became national.

I have heard it goes something like this: there is so much fried food being cooked up at LSU tailgates on game day, that everyone smells like fried food (corndogs) at Tiger Stadium.

I think Auburn started it. They used something that was originally written for Nebraska fans and tried to adapt it to LSU -- pretty lame. If you smell anything cooking at tailgates, it's not corndogs.

Did you do this before or after it became a thing to call LSU fans corn dogs?

It's funny I hear this all the time living in Arkansas, then I asked them the last time the Pigs played a meaningful game and they shut the hell up.

Auburn story

But as has been pointed out by other posters, the origin is really Oklahoma fans saying it about the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
