Kids go to Vandy and go higher in the draft more often than not. It is no different than NFL draft helping us in football recruiting.

If Bertman is in BR, SEC is still lopsided for LSU, Skip had transfers in, with Mainieri they transfer out. I know they didn't sit out with Skip.

Clearly it's Mainieri's fault that the NCAA changed the transfer rules.

ETA: And your post assumes Bertman never had guys transfer out, which is flat out dumb.

I don't blame Mainieri for the transfer rule, I blame him for always throwing players under the bus, and never changing coaches especially unqualified coaches, maybe Danny Zardon can get hired by Mainieri

Over the past 10 years or so they have had better overall draft classes than we have. That is what kids see nowadays.

CPM deals with them when they come in for visits and closes.

Thanks for confirming he is not doing his job. People would call for Coach O's head for a garbage effort like that.

I was never in the fire CPM crowd until I found out he is a lazy recruiter.

There is zero doubt in my mind that you have no clue where Danny Zardon is playing.

But he's currently a catcher in the cubs organization on the same team as Jake Slaughter.

So Mainieri hiring him would be pretty on-brand.

So your saying they're being drafted higher in relation to LSU players. Thank you, I was trying to clarify.

That is one metric to use, and I'm sure they use the frick out of it in recruiting. But it's flawed.

Are they being drafted higher relative to their standing coming out of high school? (not their actual draft position coming out of high school, because that's not a great way to judge either)

Essentially, are they being developed, or are they basically the same player they were except now with an SEC track record?

The answer is probably not black and white. Just like with LSU, it's probably a mixed bag.

We have a tops program that is a huge help with scholarships. Let's face it. We have a lazy head coach.

Sarcasm, because Zardon and Mainieri didn't have the best relationship.

It's a help, but only for kids from Louisiana. Meanwhile, Georgia has the same thing, but produces a shite ton more talent than Louisiana does.

So while it's a help, it's not necessarily an advantage.

And also, being able to supplement in state kids with TOPS does not equal being able to give out 35 full scholarships to kids from anywhere in the country.

I'm aware. But you shouldn't try to make jokes. You're bad at it.

Now Vanderbilt is the school to be envious of. A while ago it was Miss. State and their great stadium making, of course, the box look like crap. Let's see yea we wanted Florida's coach, before they had a very bad year. Why not just quit worrying about what everyone else has, they all have problems too.

It’s a well known fact we offered Garza a scholly and Paul never saw him play. Not sure how common this is.

Would you rather that Mainieri be away from the team regularly during the season while he's out evaluating high school players?

I don't know how common it is for Mainieri to have not seen guys we're offering, but it's not always that way. The way he interviewed Cannizaro was from meeting him out at tournaments recruiting when Cannizaro was still a scout. So he's been out on the road at some point.

But it's also not uncommon for head coaches to not be hands on in the off campus recruiting and only be the closers. Schlossnagle and Van Horn are this way.

Baseball recruiting calendar is largely during the season. He is kind of busy during that time.

Rumor has it that Mainieri never leaves Baton Rouge and won’t go farther than a day’s drive from and back to B.R. to recruit players.

"Rumor" on the rant is a big word for "I made this up to sell a narrative."
