Question: How is Vandy out-recruiting LSU in baseball?

They have finished #1 in recruiting 4 out of the last 5 years according to Perfect Game. Vandy’s Tim Corbin makes $2.3 million a year and Mainieri only makes $1.2 million a year. If LSU wants to be the best program in college baseball, they are going to have to hire the best coaches. The ones that actually go out and recruit and teach fundamentals. Rumor has it that Mainieri never leaves Baton Rouge and won’t go farther than a day’s drive from and back to B.R. to recruit players.

The statement about Manieri not going outside of Louisiana to recruit is a total crock of crap and false. Are you really that stupid?

Yet Corbin only has one title. If you are looking for a coach who has underachieved with the most talent, it would be Tim Corbin. (I would expect them to win this season though).

Just my opinion. I don't think Corbin is the best coach. He has major advantages in recruiting and has not achieved much with those classes.

Well considering more than half of this years roster are not from Louisiana ... I'd say this is false.

It has been discussed numerous times on this board. Private schools can play with private scholarships so a lot more money can be thrown around. Also a 50 percent scholarship at Vandy is worth a hell of a lot more than a 50 percent scholarship at LSU.
Cain is the recruiting coordinator. Cain does all the leg work Scouts gets guys interested and talk to them day to day. CPM deals with them when they come in for visits and closes. That’s not much different than what a lot of head coaches across the country do. LSU did just have the number one recruiting class last year and a pretty good one this year so I’m not sure that this strategy isn’t working.

Vandy can literally give 35 full scholarships. Very very few programs can do that. Legally.

True, but the admissions standards at Vanderbilt are substantially more rigorous than at LSU. Surely a lot of recruits wouldn't qualify for admission, even if Vanderbilt laxes their standards to some degree.
