In New Orleans, Isidore Newman is the go to school for “celebrity” kids and wealthy people in general. Of course, the Manning kids & grandkids went there. Others include the Brees kids, Randy Livingston, Odell Beckham Jr, Chris Paul’s son and on & on. I assume that many children of Saints & Pelican players attend Newman, which encompasses High School & Elementary school. Tuition is @ $25,000 per year.

So in BR, is there one school that the kids of our high profile coaches all go to? Or is it spread out to various schools? Is there an equivalent school to Newman in BR?

Depends,
The two best choices would be Catholic High School (Boys), St. Joseph’s Academy (Girls) or the Episcopal High system (Co-ed).
Or University Lab school.
Sorry just noticed others beat me to it.

Right now tuition at Episcopal starts at about $11 K for Pre-K 3 (3 year olds) to $22 K for 12th graders.

Before Gentry, most pelicans/hornets people sent their kids to Country Day and most Saints people sent their kids to Newman. No idea why, just how it was.

I know JJ reddick and Jrue Holiday's kids went to country day, and Ben Watson also sent his kids there.

In BR, it's Episcopal, Uhigh, and now Dunham is getting some of those kids.

Episocpal is on par with Country Day and Newman tuition, education, networking, and athletic wise.

Dunham seems to be closer to a St. Martins educationally and athletically, but their tuition is about the same I beleive (20k ish)

Thanks everyone. I forgot about Country Day in NOLA. One of my nephews started at Newman and finished at Country Day many years ago.

When I saw the family photo of Coach Matt with younger kids, I was just wondering where a coach new to Baton Rouge would send their kids to school.

Appreciate the info.

As a BR person circa 87-2010, I felt that Dunham wasn’t viewed as well as the other schools listed. It always felt like

Tier 1 CHS/SJA/Episcopal
Tier 1.2 UHigh

Tier 2 Dunham

Due to Dunham's stronger evangelical Christian influence. Academically, they are just as strong as those other schools if not stronger. Class size better at Dunham also.

Jesuit High School has graduated more than its fair share of “movers and shakers”. Even a few celebrities. And then there’s 175 years of tradition, a huge number of championships in many sports, a connectedness over generations of alumni, and unparalleled academics. No other school can match having over 11% of Louisiana’s National Merit Finalists.

In addition, tuition at under $10K is nearly the lowest in New Orleans private schools. No qualified boy has ever been turned away because of his parents’ inability to pay.

The Mannings can have Newman.

Just sayin’…

Dunam is up there too.

Also, Newman isn't the only one in New Orleans.

Take your pick among the big Catholic schools. They all have celebrity/athlete children that attend.

Of the schools mentioned so far in the thread (CHS/SJA, Episcopal, Dunham, Uhigh) CHS and SJA are grades 8-12. All others are k-12. For CHS and SJA the elementaries are all of the Catholic Schools. Probably Aloysius being the one for the coaches given its proximity to campus.
