I hope so too, since 06 there have been 2 teams who’ve won multiple titles. Both of them went back to back and both were programs nowhere near LSUs level. So even though our fans claim it’s impossible to do the truth is it’s very possible CPM just needs to get it done. This is where the knocks on him come from and these are the examples that disprove the phony excuses made up to protect him.

We were so close last year, anyone shows besides UF, Paul gets second Natty and this convo is mute. It's a very thin line in Omaha.

Again you’re applying every possible disadvantage to one special coach, as if the rest of the country has to abide by a different set of rules. This is the same thing as the “magic bat” theory used to devalue Skips run in the 90s like he was the only coach using the upgraded bats even though he won more titles without gorilla ball than with.

Bertman, like Saban, won't probably be duplicated. Believe me, what Skip did was amazing. Five Natty tries, five Natty's. Not even Saban has won every title try. But even Skip would say SEC is much tougher today.

It's crazy how much talent has passed through or baseball program ,the last few years...Seems to me at least he is not a big game coach. He gets us there but , something seems missing once we get in position to win the big one.

Maybe but the SEC was loaded during most of Skips era. Remember the Miss State teams with Palmero, Clark, Bobby Thigpen and Jeff Brantley. Then you had the 90s which saw 13 appearances by teams from the SEC other than LSU including Bama who in 1997 had one of the most dominant SEC teams ever and won 4 SEC tourneys during the 90s. Tennessee won 2 regular season titles 3 sec tourneys and was also a great program during that decade. I think there have been 17/18 SEC teams in the CWS since CPM took over but there are 4 more teams now and an extra season so I’m not so sure the SEC is that much better than it was. CPM is a very good coach but LSU is the top program in college baseball, we should expect the results to reflect that. Other top programs in their respective sports fan bases expect titles and they get them but for whatever reason our fanbase is more interested in making excuses for our head coach. A victim mentality and apologetic culture deal to produce greatness.

For starters your post reads more of a cry for help than a question. Secondly baseball teams are put together to win over a 60ish game season. In the post season it's (for all intents and purposes ) a 1 game season and relies on matchups and luck more than skill and consistency.

Nobody’s had better pitching than LSU over the past 5 years. Last year yes they did but nobody’s had the arms like Gausman, Nola, Poche, Lange ext over the last few seasons.

Go look at the arms Florida has had over the last few years. LSU could match them on top of the line guys but depth of pitching staff goes to Florida.

For the record this is opposite for hitters. Florida could match LSU at the top probably but the depth of talented college hitters def goes to LSU.

College baseball on the whole is lightyears ahead of where it was at any point in Skips tenure, the sec especially.

UCLA had a similar streak of arms a few years ago. It's definitely an exception to the norm.

One of those is South Carolina and where are they now? South Carolina has administration support and facilities on LSU’s level. The AD is the coach that brought them those 2 titles. They have great fan support As well. Not on LSU’s level but no one does. The other is Oregon State. They have been pretty consistent but Paul beat one of their greatest team ever in back to back games last year on the biggest stage.

I agree maybe Paul should have one or two more NC’s but he is at least consistently in the hunt with a chance to win it every year. As fans that is all we can really ask for considering we don’t actually do anything to help the team win games.

The era of baseball dynasties are over
We just aren’t going to win as many championships or even make it to the championships games like we did in the 90’s.

It’s a different time now there’s talent at so many programs now

Your last point makes sense but I respectfully disagree. Your points about South Carolina are contradictory statements. You say they’re on our level then you say they’re not. Both comments about USC and OSU are straw man arguments, they have nothing to do with the examples I used those two programs for. I was only pointing out that our fans push this false narrative that it’s impossible to win multiple titles in close proximity to one another when it’s been done recently and by lesser programs.

Like Kentucky basketball? 1 title in 20 years, Are they going to fire Calipari soon?

You think Bama would fire Saban if he only had 2 titles but finishes in the top 10 almost every year?

I don’t think anyone is saying it is impossible. I just think there are a lot of people that compare what Maineiri is doing to what Bertman did in the 90’s. Just because you aren’t as great as the greatest doesn’t mean you aren’t great.

I know LSU only recognizes National Championships and I’m fine with that but being consistently a top 8 team after 56 games doesn’t just happen by accident and because you are LSU.

Like I’ve said before no coach in the country lives up to the lofty expectations of LSU fans.

Lsu fans have a hard time understanding the parody that is in college baseball today compared to the 90’s. PM is one of the most respected coaches in the game today and was even selected to coach team USA. Great coach that coaches a game that’s completely different than it was in the 90’s
