we will, maybe not that fast, but unless hell freezes over, it is going to happen… you know usc got most of those titles in the 60/70's…
1948, 1958, 1961, 1963, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1978, 1998
not going to take anything away from them, the game was different then, but it was different for everybody across the nation, and sure it is much tougher these days, but they still had to be the best and most tough and most skilled and a team… just like today, team is where its at… ron polk built miss st into a monster, look at the players he had… and alabama went deep into the ncaa for a few years when they had dave magadan… but we are near, or at, the top right now, and everything looks to continue, for a while at least… coach jj is keeping the train rolling full steam ahead, and hopefully that will continue… course, shift happens, somebody might get truly desperate and give coach jj the solar system… our guys would just gave to give him the galaxy… i do not think socal can be written off, but they are going to have to deal with ucla first… we will catch socal… but the game is so wide open, now, it may not happen quite tbat quickly… …

Funny I was having those same thoughts about 1998. We were so close sitting in the winner's bracket after two games. We scored 12 and 10 runs in our first two games but once the wind shifted, we only scored 4 and 3 runs in back to back losses to USC. We will catch them eventually, but I highly doubt it happens in 10 years, it is extremely tough to win a baseball national championship.

We will but it’ll likely take 25-30 more years.
USC not giving a crap also helps but I think 5 more in the next 25-30 years is doable but then again we “only” have 2 post skip over the last 25 years.

USc head coach was from New Orleans

This.
LSU won 5 in the 90's. Since that time no one else has won more than 2 in a 10 year period. That said, Vandy played in the championship series 4 times between 2014-2021

Agreed. Then again, maybe USC's move to the Big 10 can help them get back on track. Now they only really have to contend with UCLA and Oregon. Arizona, Stanford, and Oregon St are no longer conf. foes. I don't think it's any coincidence USC's first trip to the NCAA Tournament in a decade was also their first year in the Big 10

I hope USC stays down and to an extent UCLA. All those California top recruits will wind up at LSU.

Its extremely difficult to win 1 title look at FSU 0-24 in Omaha.
Two incredible stats in that statement. One, they have been to Omaha 24 times. Two, they have never won it.

Win 1 or 2 a decade, and LSU will catch and pass them in our lifetimes.
2 or 3 a decade is almost unreasonable. But, that would still put it at 20 years from now.
Baseball is much harder to win a championship than other sports because the best teams don't always win.
Plus, there is a concentration of talent due to the portal.
In some ways, it helps ensure LSU reloads every year.
But, the LSU brand has always helped recruiting.
It also helps the other teams pick up studs from the Missouri Valley types.
2 in the 2000's. 0 in the 2010's. 1 in the 2020's so far. That's roughly 1 championship every 8 years.
Now, I think Jay has a great chance to improve on that rate.
But even at 8 years, it's 32-40 years before you catch and pass them.
That's a long, long time.

Yes, but why the deadline of the next ten years?
I'm guessing he or a family member is old so the next 10 years increases their odds of seeing it happen in their lifetime...that just a guess but I was with you I didn't see any other reason to put a deadline on it unless its based upon them wanting to witness it.

Skip won 5 in 10 so it can be done.

They can but it would probably take a few decades and Jay or someone as successful to stay the coach for a long period of time.
It's harder to win now. More schools care about baseball and are investing in it.

That was the greatest run in the sport over the last 40 years and possibly the greatest coach of all time. He's on the CBB Mount Rushmore at least.

So it took SC 50 yrs to win 12 (1948 - 1958).
can LSU do it in the same timeframe? (1991 - 2041) so 17 yrs left including this CWS to win 5 championships. 1 every 3 years, is not too likely.

USC has put more emphasis on their team with the move from the PAC. They even made the Regional final this year where they lost to Oregon State.

Who cares if we catch them? They are like Yale in football (I believe that's the school with all the old football championships.)

Consider this as well re their NC totals: back then, there were only 4-5 mabe 6 teams nation-wide that were possibly their equal. The SEC alone was no where near, consistently, as good as it is now. The level of competition is not even close to being comparable to today's college baseball. Remember Dedeaux (?) complaining about the huge advantage LSU had because of their number of fans vs USC's. He also noted that USC back then didn't even have their own radio station covering the games. They had to piggy back through a nationwide network. USC back then had their pick of all the California kids; nowadays LSU alone always gets several of the top 10 players. The Ducks get several; the Beavers. Cal.State. Fresno St. its share, too.

If LSU is well coached it should win one about every six years. So 30 years to catch them if they don’t win any.

frick, they won 5 in a row during the early 70’s. That will never be done again. The game is not the same today.
