He was neck and neck with Haskins at Ohio State for the starting job according to Buckeye fans, and Haskins will be really good. The thought was though Haskins is just slightly ahead so Burrow went ahead and pulled the trigger to transfer because if HAskins starts he'd never play sans injury to Haskins.
Understand, but you just proved my point...after 3 years there, he was passed by basically a freshman.
I dont see savior written in this guy...especially because of the message it sends to team and future recruits who will be told, our QBs aren't up to par.

Today I learned that Ohio State had 4 star QBs on their roster that I've never even heard of.
I'd give anything for LSU to have "problems" with 4-star QBs getting lost in the shuffle behind better talent.

Barrett is a significantly better College QB than Danny Etling.
I cant think of anything Etling does better, or had more success doing.
Draft position has nothing to do with that, and a Etling got draft in the 7th.

Why go to a team with a returning starter?
I dont think Mullen wants any part of Franks starting for his team this year

I just think it sends the wrong message to recruits and the current team, if O goes hard after him
What message do you think it sends?
I believe competition is a good thing, particularly for our group. It's not like Burrow will be the guaranteed starter if he does choose LSU.

Haskins is a rising redshirt sophomore...He's been there for 2 full years already and entering his 3rd. He was not basically a freshman, both played some last season in relief of Barrett, they have always been close. Haskins was aTop 5 pro style QB on 247, not like he isn't a pretty talented guy and you know Meyer will get a ton out of him.
Really what this seems like is 2 talented guy have been going at it and only 1 will start, one they have been leaning slightly to and because of that the other sees the writing on the wall being a year older so he's graduating and getting out to play now. Makes perfect sense.

So what you're saying is that we're likely going into year 10 without a true identity at QB. Yeah, getting rid of Miles is really paying dividends now.

Well every QB on the roster was recruited by Miles, so that shouldn't be surprising.

he could still be a good player and not fit what they want on offense.
LSU has a history of that, so he should fit right in.

I don't know if Burrow has NFL upside, but I can tell you that Dwayne Haskins is one of the most talented QBs in the country. He has a gun.

Brennan and Narcisse were part of the 2017 class, which Ed O was heavily involved with, and eventually signed as HC. We didn't take a QB in this class, O's first real class as HC.
I don't have anymore confidence in O's ability to attract, develop, and effectively utilize QB talent than I did Miles.

I wanted us to get a RB transfer. If we get him I hope he's good, but that just means we really are goin to be relying on Chris Curry or Nick Brosette to play well as our 2nd back this year. I like Curry I think he can be that guy, but we'll see. I like what I hear from Burrow.

So he's a pro-styled qb with a wheel to run to escape the rushes. Geaux get him, Oeux, and let the best qb wins the starting job and worry about transfers later.

I reported on here last month that a friend of mine attended a closed scrimmage and was concerned that we had no QB! Coaches were concerned that none of our QB's were pulling away. Hence the need for a transfer QB

Burrow broke his hand at the end of fall camp last year, left the door wide open for Haskins to pass him up.

I thought O was stupid for not giving out all of the available scholarships in February

Canada led the charge for those 2, and honestly, neither is a lost cause by any means right now. Brennan just needs several more meals at Cane's and Narcisse needs more time to develop from missing his last 2 years of high school due to injury. Leaving what many to believe our best current option as of today is a guy who is pretty erratic in his accuracy but has been in the program and looks the part in McMillian (it's scary, honestly right now)
Not saying Coach O didn't make any mistakes, but he didn't have any idea what his offensive identity would even be until year 2 being the full time HC here with the OC he wants because he never liked Canada. Yes, we basically wasted a year from an offensive standpoint. I dont like it as much as the next guy, either way getting Burrow would be huge for us in terms of having a guy ready to go right now that's pretty darn good.
Getting Burrow now could honestly mean the difference in having a capable offense this year vs. one that will just flat out suck in my opinion if we likely go the route of McMillian or the 2 young guys.
