Q: Oh yeah, well what was that stat in the fourth quarter when they loaded the box?

A: 5.8 ypc (17 for 99)

You counted LSU's negative running plays as positive. We had 17 for 91 in the 4th (5.35).

We gained 14 of those yards on a Harris pass play where he ran for the first down, so you can remove that from this argument.

LSU's RB ran for 4.5 ypc in the 4th quarter, but had 6/14 plays where we netted less than 3 yards

Do you ever post after the Bama games? I think you are a slightly more intelligent version of runningTiger.

Lolz ok Les. Glad you're cool with not scoring any points the last 20 minutes of the game and barely hanging on for what probably should have been a loss to a team who struggled mightily with Southern Miss last week.

I agree at times they could have mixed in the pass. But it doesn't matter, we won.

If we would have thrown the ball and ended up losing, people would still be calling for Miles job. its the same song and dance since September of 05. he's not going anywhere, I don't see the point in rambling about miles for over 10 years now.

It does matter, because this isn't a mistake he'll learn from. He's going to do it again. You think he's going to do anything different on the road at Bama?

The game plan was clearly not perfect when in the 4th quarter MSU got to run 26 plays and score 2 TDs because the offense couldnt score 4 possessions in a row.

Not to mention the game ended on what could have been the game winning FG for them.

Running the ball wasn't a mistake last night. See the scoreboard.

2 TDs
LSU's running game scored more TD's than that, though.

That is absolutely terrible logic

So if MSU catches the 2 point conversion or makes the FG, it would have made it a mistake?

I'm glad we won, but the game plan was not perfect. Miss St. still got 80 plays in to LSU's 61 partly due to the "Run, run, run" strategy employed especially in the 4th quarter.

They also had a chance to steal the game with a 52 yard field goal attempt. Miles also allowed because of that strategy for the D-line to get worn down. The game simply did not have to be that hard.

This game plan, if we had faced Alabama today, would have failed. Miles has to allow this team to operate with more of a killer instinct.

Last year we were told he put a lid on the passing game because of the receivers and the QB, so I guess this year he did it because of holding penalties on 1 pass play and 2 running plays.

I do understand he was trying to protect Harris on the road, but that was a bit too much protection.

I'm also concerned about the way the DBs are playing though in this scheme because they looked rather passive. The silver-lining is this is their first game and they too should improve.

This team is going to have to learn how to close the show early so that Miles' fourth quarter involvement won't put them in this position again.

At the end of the day, Miss St. is someone else's problem now and on to Auburn.

Yeah well we ran the ball about 50 times last night. I hope we scored on a couple of them...

Maybe you enjoy hoping the other team misses a game winning FG but I'd rather we just put a team away than try and run the clock out with 1.5 quarters to play and only a 2 score lead.

LSU controlled time of possession (33-27) specifically because of the running game. Had they passed more, this inevitably would be reversed. Wanna give MSU the ball for three more minutes?

Misleading stat is misleading. They ran 20 more plays than us so I would say they controlled the ball more. ToP is a very useless stay in a vacuum.

How many first downs, how many points, and how many punts. YPC doesn't exist in some sort of vacuum.

If Moo St makes a FG then we aren't having this conversation.

The fact of the matter is, ultra conservative play calling allowed Moo St to lose the game, not LSU to win it

I know you just like to troll every board, but I don't understand how anyone wouldn't be frustrated. That was a pitiful display of offensive ineptitude for 3 quarters. It would make Carl Smith proud.

The forward pass is legal. The current great coaches have adapted to the modern game. frick, even Saban has opened up his offense. It's time.

If you aren't sick of seeing games like last night, I don't know what to tell you.

I'll gladly give them the ball for three more minutes as long as we're putting points on the board.

What are you going to say when the scoreboard inevitably shows a loss 3 times this year? Wait, I know. It will be the players' fault.

And those rushing stats do not mean shite. First downs when you need em and points is what matters. With stats like that, you should be able to throw the frickin ball

Have a couple of questions for you coach.
Why do you believe the defense looked gassed in the 4th?
Why do you believe all of those elite skill position players signed with LSU?
Do you actually believe LSU can beat AU,UA and OleMiss with this game plan?
