There are probably 4-5 better punters at other LA schools right now. I'd think grabbing a punter off the portal would be like getting a new hammer at Lowes. Plenty on the shelf.

From his stats, that's what it looked like last year when we got Ochsendorf.

Snapper sticks out to me more but when I read about the yards lost from the punter I'm pissed at all of them. The holder seems to be the one who has done the best.

You could have Harrison butker, without a consistent long snapper/holder it doesn’t matter. Slade Roy may be literally the worst I’ve ever seen for LSU.

I'll reiterate everyone who said BK is arse. Next season will be something else he fricks up.

If Woodward, assistant coaches, and or Gordon McKernan types have to keep telling him what to fix and who to hire, then wtf is Kelly good for?

also, nothing against our FG Kicker, but we need someone with a little more range. These guys today on most teams are pretty good from 55 to 58 yards. I think 50 is about our limit, and that may be stretching it. It is a big asset to have.

Good ST has been a staple at LSU since Saban
Not entirely true

Saban's teams had good return games, but he never put emphasis on the kicking game. As I recall, he left the kickers alone and expected them to be about average.

That was famously one of Miles' advantages early on when Saban went to Bama... Miles spent more emphasis on ST.

The special teams unit as a whole in terms of kicking/punting needs to be addressed. The only unit that has been somewhat productive has been the Kick return unit.

Our special teams punt and kicking units have been very poor. It is actually very disappointing.

The entire special teams units need to be addressed. From snaps , holder, kicker. When and where to field the ball. ST definitely gets an F grade this season.
ST has been poor since Kelly got here.

It was the returners and coverage teams his first year. Last year was ok but the return game was incredibly weak considering we had Malik Nabers on our team.

Much like firing Raymond- letting McMahon walk looks like another mistaken

Miles’ teams were frustrating, but it’s a phenomenal formula for winning football.

Stellar special teams.

Aggressive, staunch defense.

Ball control, hopefully capable offense.

He didn't have true SPEC TEAMS coach his first 2 years and still doesn't honestly. Low IQ.

You can go find a decent punter in Many high schools in Texas. Its a shame we have a crappy punter on Scholarship.

Special teams coach is NOT that important for a punter. That is an individual position...it isn't like coverage on a punt or coverage on a kickoff. Once again, to say that punters and placekickers have not been a priority for LSU is utter nonsense. 5 on scholarship probably leads the nation in that regard. And BTW, PKs which you didn't bring up have been fine. Nothing wrong with Ramos other than he can't kick 55 yard FGs.

I'm not talking about punters I'm talking about punt block/return schemes. Ours is terrible. Our average starting field position has been disastrous.

I agree that on exchange of punts, LSU loses about 10 yards. But it has not been related to the return game. It is related to the fact that LSU has the worst punting average in the SEC. In almost every game I have checked the stats, the other team averages in the mid to high 40s. LSU's punters last time I checked was about 37 yards. I can't remember the last time that LSU blocked a punt but in my memory LSU only had one deflected/blocked this season (South Carolina game), Blocked punts just don't happen hardly any more.
