You have to let him take the mound in the 9th just to see what he has left. If he struggles a bit, pull him, but that was the deadly error by Jay Johnson

I think he learned from that mistake!

Not really. And I think Ack shouldve stayed in until a runner got on. 3 runs wasn’t winning this game. Add a huge error and you get a loss

Absolutely. Jay should have left him in until he stuttered. He was dealing.

+1

You always pull a relief pitcher after striking out the side in a pressure situation.

Bone head move by Johnson.

Ack may have gone back out and walked the bases loaded

Play better during the season and host a regional next year

Do not refer to him by his first name. He should be called BeBe Johnson or Paul Manure Jr.

He went to his best pitcher with a 1-run lead in the ninth. Ackenhausen was good in relief today, but he gave up 5 runs in the first yesterday, and had an ERA near 6 on the season.

No one knows if Ackenhausen would have held them in the ninth, and then if he hadn't, people would have screaming he should have gone to Jump.

LSU went scoreless after the third. Think about that for a bit.

Yep. Ack earned a batter in the 9th. He pitched well in the 8th. Jay panicked.

You give Ack one batter in the 9th minimum.

He walked a guy and got to multiple full counts. He got out of the jam but he was hardly “dealing”.

Yes Ack struck out the side. But how stressful was that inning? Y'all act like he dominated and pounded the strike zone. He was very fortunate to escape with no damage in the 8th. Putting in Jump made sense.

Yeah I really wanted to leave him in while he was dealing and pull him for Jump if he got in trouble. Leaving it alone there would’ve been all it took likely for us to get back home and get to Omaha

Overtinkered at the end

We could not get 1 or 2 more runs and that to me was game over. Do we always play so deep in the field for a 9th hitter in lineup.

The definition of dealing must be very different from person to person.

For sure. Especially knowing it could go extra innings and save Jump.

Ack faced 3 batters in the 8th and struck out every single one of them. You don’t consider that dealing, wtf are you talking about?
