unfortunately, I agree. in 2027 potentially replacing all starters except arrambide/evans and maybe a DH... and i don't think you roll freshman out in those roles. Will have to be a complete portal haul

Musso seems to think Cowan will be in rotation opening weekend.
Things can obviously change pretty drastically between fall and spring.

Where is John Pearson?
I just looked up some of his pics to see if there was anything funny... Apparently he's been pimpin'.
In all seriousness, all I've heard since he was in high school was how he was a better player then Josh. I thought he was the second coming of Tommy Tanks. He's got the look down at least.

Ole baw looks more like Cade Beloso than Josh
Josh was just clutch like few others. Dude had more timely hits than any other average hitter I recall. That may be P&G plus recency bias.

That's the truth, not bias. Don't forget his clutch fielding too.
That's why I was so high on John. if Josh was simply "clutch", John should be regularly productive.
Again, this is coming from some Monroe locals I know.

He definitely made some clutch fielding plays, but his fielding was always high-level. His hitting was average except when you needed it, that's part of what made it stand out to me.

They aren't.
I think it said HOCO21.

listening to Jay on OTB this morning, it sounds like Reaves will get the first crack at 2B
Posted on 1/15/26 at 6:33 pm to Countryboykwon
I will bet you money the top 4 is not L-L-S-L followed by 3 straight RH batters. CJJ doesn't roll that way.

When Jay was asked about Reaves he mentioned he wanted him to add a little more power. When Reaves was asked about a highlight defensive play he made. Reaves mentioned he just wants to be consistent with the routine plays.

quote:Disagree. Milam, Brown, Curiel, Larson, and Arrambide all saw significant playing time when they stepped on campus, this year might be hard for someone to break through because of what returned and only 3-4 positions battles are opened, but if this current high school class holds and couple make it to campus in the summer they’ll definitely make a strong impact.
With the plug and play portal guys, I think the days of freshman playing a bunch are over. Curiel was an exception and he had to beat out Larson to do it. Serna should see plenty of time, Braun might get some DH opportunities and the freshman pitchers will play, Paz getting meaningful innings.

We had the top freshman class last year and only Curiel started, plus a couple of Sundays from Evans. Which freshman start this year before the season is over? Paz is the only one that has a chance.

quote:easy prediction would be Serna at C or DH but wouldn’t be shocked one bit if one of those other guys like Clauss or Ruckert can lock up 2B if Reaves proves to be inconsistent again and Simpson’s game cannot translate to the SEC.

I think a better way for me to put it is Jay will never count on any freshman to come in and start. He will always have a starting lineup in place that doesn't include freshman. They will get backup time and if they are good enough to unseat an upperclassmen, then better for us.

Hope Arrambide has improved defensively; Luis was so clutch last year.

He looked improved in the fall.
