Well, it kinda hurts your profit when your basketball team sucks and people don't go to the games. It also helps when your gymnastics squad is in the hunt for a national title and you sell alot more tickets. It's pretty self explanatory. If you suck you don't sell tickets, therefore you don't make money. We were absolutely terrible, it doesn't surprise me at all.

I have no problem at all with the gymnastics squad. I don't mind it at all. They're very talented, lol.

The -3.99 million for women’s basketball sticks out. I imagine women’s basketball in the 2000s was close to if not turning a profit. Too bad the administration doesn’t see it...

I am honestly curious about the revenue WBB had back in the pokey era

It doesn't matter what I think man. I was just venting on my personal dislike for soccer that's all lol. I was being selfish. Sorry if I struck a nerve. That's why I said no offense.

You have to admit though, LSU having a beach volleyball team and ice hockey is just ridiculous.

And yet men's hoops STILL turned 3 times the profit of our alleged 2nd most important sport (baseball). Wait til uncle will has us rolling in a year or two and hoops will DWARF baseball revenue and profit.

Basketball can be a big money maker if they get good again.

Im guessing T&F are really combined.. Curious where the extra 2 dollars came from.

Yeah, as you know there is no way women and men spend the same since women get 18 scholarships to the men’s 12.6.

I’m surprised that the AD doesn’t make them report more accurately. It would make the school look “better” since it would show more $$$ toward women’s sports. It should be really easy to track.

Seeing how much money these teams lose really make think how easy it would be to support new sports. LSU rugby operates on less than a $10k budget. If LSU can find $750k for beach volleyball surely they can fund men’s rugby, soccer, and lacrosse.

Yikes.

Anyone know what the numbers were when Pokie Chatman was here?

ETA: I see it was answered above. Why are expenses $2M more ten years later?

No, they don't buy their own goof clubs lol. Every sport at LSU, and the equipment they use to play said sport, is funded by the LSU ADept. LSU is on the hook for everything.
How does this work? For instance, baseball gloves and bats. Will LSU buy any model a player requests?

How much does one full scholarship "cost"? Do they consider things like TOPS, in state tuition, etc. when calculating these numbers? TIA

The problem is administration/ support expenses. This is also what’s killing our school systems, outside of the enormous retirement funds. Drain this swamp

Que the people that don’t understand Title IX.

Back when there were only 2 genders and women’s sports were rare, government forced colleges to offer a female athletic scholarship for every male offered.

No, LSU has no interest in beach volleyball or women’s soccer, we just have to give women sports to have a men’s sport.

Their should be outrage that there’s a women’s soccer team but not a men’s. It’s descrimination. But when you’re on the wrong side of political correctness no one cares.

They built a new tennis stadium this year and renovated the old to hold BEACH VOLLEYBALL
I still need to figure out when that starts.

Its awesome LSU has a great baseball program that always breaks even and makes some extra cash, every other school in the country would LOVE to have this.

That said, we got to get Men's BB on track. I know LSU isn't Carolina or Kentucky but there is no reason why BB shouldn't earn 3-5 million every year with ticket sales and TV money.
