Tonight will start giving you some insight to how they're thinking about some teams' wins, schedule, etc., so it is not without value

How does Clemson have the most impressive resume???

Most impressive meaning the most impressive out of the undefeated teams. It's not all that great, but they did score 114 points in the past 2 games against decent teams.

1. Ohio State
2. Clemson
3. LSU
4. TCU

I get the feeling they won't drop OSU until they lose.

Rankings are based off of if season finished today. Last year they had Miss State, Ole Miss, and Auburn in the top 4 one week IIRC.

I would put Baylor in the top 4 over TCU. What has TCU done to deserve a top 4 ranking?

Hollow - I may not agree with you very often, but I completely agree with this.

These early committee rankings just don't matter. Way, way too many games left.

I've never understood the obsession over predicting the future. Just watch and enjoy the games, and at the end of the season, we'll know.

Certainly I can understand going through the scenarios when there's only 1 week left, but even then, just play and win, and let the committee do its job.

Agonizing over this type of thing with so many weeks left in the season is just a waste of energy.

If that's their reasoning for ranking Ohio State number one then I lose all faith in the committee.

Not to be a Debbie Downer...but who in their right mind ever thought a committee was a good idea for this system?

Seriously...we talk about having to "win it on the field" and then have literally no mathematical way to determine which teams win their way into the playoff.

We're stuck with an "eyeball test" that once again forces humans to judge programs which have almost certainly not played each other or in most cases even played the same opposition as to which ones are the best four.

Choosing teams by committee can work when the field is large enough...like baseball or basketball...even a fricking committee will end up choosing the team which will eventually win it all. But when you limit it to just four, eyeball teats have absolutely no place. Multiple teams left out because they don't pass the eyeball test COULD win it in a playoff... You just can;t have a playoff of four teams AND a committee. Makes no sense.

In short, this entire thing needs to be dropped for an NFL style system where conferences (until we drop those too) place teams into the playoff based on wins/losses and NOT on which ones SEEM to be the best.

Sorry to hi-jack...this whole thing chaps my arse! haha

Oh...

1- tOSU
2- Clemson
3- LSU
4- Baylor

Then why have the committee start its ranking process in November? It obviously does matter.

OSU wont be #1 either. Are you kidding me?

You know the committee looks at only the resume of the schedule to-date, right?

Their best win is against PSU... They wont be #1.

No one should give a rat's about this. It's at all like the old polls. Where a team is now has nothing to do with the end.

#1 LSU (the debate right now between Clemson and us is who is better, Notre Dame or Florida, I think Florida)
#2 Clemson
#3 Baylor (they have blown everyone out, they could almost be #1)
#4 Michigan State (I know they had to win it on a muffed punt, but their biggest win is better than Ohio State's, who has struggled vs. many teams
#5 Ohio State (no real impressive win yet)
#6 TCU (No impressive win yet, but no loss)
#7 Florida (Only loss #1 LSU, they have beat everyone else on their schedule, and pretty handily the only two wins that weren't impressive were Kentucky and Tennesse, but they are an entirely different team since then. )
#8 Bama (the loss to Ole Miss is looking worse and worse as each week goes by, that's not an exactly good loss, also two close wins against teams they should have handled well, if they beat LSU they will be in contention for a top 4 seed, There will not be more than 4 unbeaten at the end of the season, if Bama wins there will be no more than 3, so they are the top 1 loss team if they win out)
#9 Notre Dame (only loss #2 Clemson Bellow Florida and Bama well because they are SEC)
#10 Iowa (sleeper playoff team but they haven't beaten anyone yet)
#11 Utah (They need a lot of help to get in, the pac 12 may be left out)
#12 Oklahoma (if they beat TCU and Baylor in back to back weeks they will be the best 1 loss team behind a 1 loss SEC team.)
#13 Florida State (if they beat Clemson they have a chance, just not optimistic of that chance right now.)
#14 Memphis (if they win out they may get in the conversation, but they would need ALOT to happen for them to make it, basically either all 1 loss teams in the top 4, or maybe only 2 1 loss teams, and Memphis unbeaten.)

Bellow 14 the only three teams who have an outside chance is Houston (same situation as Memphis) Toledo (they may have no losses but their conference isn't that good) and North Carolina (if they upset Clemson in the ACC title, they may sneak in, especially if Clemson is #1 going in.)

One other thing, an interesting thing to watch is Memphis and
My predictions for the end of the season

I'm not going to call the LSU Bama game, the winner of that assuming they don't get upset is in. (Florida will also have a chance to get in over both if they beat either LSU or Bama in the SEC championship.)

IF LSU wins
#1 LSU
#2 Clemson
#3 Baylor/ TCU (I'll go with TCU)
#4 Michigian STate/Ohio STate (I'll go with Michigian State.)

IF Bama wins
#1 Clemson
#2 Baylor/TCU
#3 Micigian State/Ohio State
#4 Bama.

Unbeatens will get an advantage in ranking.

Theoretically it's if the season finished today. That's what allowed them to justify dropping TCU from 4 to 6 in the final poll last year.

The whole process is a false narrative to generate interest and try to drive up ratings. That was the thing about the BCS and the other polls. In theory you could determine who would be ranked where based on the previous week's rankings and results. Now, it's a total crapshoot and is more "interesting." To some people I guess.

yeah, thinking Clemson get's #1 spot.

Not surprised at all if tOSU not #1 with the committee, as opposed to polls.

If behind TCU (or Stanford, or Iowa maybe) I'm inferring the love for points/offense and/or margin of victory is present, at least to some degree even if very slight.

This is very annoying to me. Personnally, I think the committee does a good job not prognosticating and "taking a snapshot of the here and now". But the heads on TV are all over the place when asked who's in [right now]. Like Robert Smith, putting LSU like 8th because he thinks we will lose to Bama and OM. Or Sehorn putting Stanford in there because he says they will be a 1-loss PAC 12 team and there will be only 1 undefeated (tOSU).
