Both have Friday night stuff. Landon will be used more early in his career because of his propensity to throw strikes

Beloso will start at 1st base and hit .305 in 2019.

I’d like to see him DH. A big body such as Willis or Garza should slide to 1B.

I'm more concerned with SS & 3rd. Assuming Smith is healthy my concern is the "bat" of Hughs his glove is OK. Bianco or Willis at 3rd if you move Smith to SS to get more offensive production in the lineup. I'm thinking Dugas or Broussard at 2nd.

It was difficult watching Hughs bat last year, it always works out with guys in scoring position and Hughs would be up. Not shitting on him it's what it was. Just would like to either see improvement from him this year or someone else, either Smith to SS and Willis or Bianco at 3rd. Garza should workout at 1st and let Beloso DH at least in the beginning. Just get the infield defense tight and get as many productive bats in the lineup.

Any news on the additional paid assistant? When is the NCAA supposed to make a decision and any idea who Mainieri would pursue?

Are they supposed to be adding another one? I hadn't heard that

I’m interested to see where Willis plays. Athletic enough to probably play any corner position on the field and catcher, but he had arm issues this spring which is probably why he ended up here

Would love to see Beloso crack the lineup.

I watched him play in the LHSAA football championships this December and he was going 100 mph every play. Saw one where he tipped a ball at the line of scrimmage and had the awareness to dive out and catch it before it hit the ground for the INT. Haven't seen him play baseball but it was unbelievable effort. That will translate to the diamond.

I predict that Landon Marceaux will be in the weekend rotation. I predict that Jaden Hill will be at least the mid-week starter. I predict that Gavin Dugas will be very hard to keep off the field. I think Belso will either be the DH/1st baseman.

I feel like your weekend rotation will likely end up being

Hess, Walker, Marceaux

Somewhat off topic, but I said all season that I wanted Hilliard to stay in the pen. I think he can be really big for us as a utility guy. You've seen he's got the endurance to start, so he can do so in a pinch if needed, 4th starter, etc. or can do long relief if a starter gets pushed out early. His stuff is really good and I think he could work well as a inning or two guy for a couple of games a weekend as well. Having a reliable guy to call on out the pen would have been big for us last year. Obviously we needed someone to start so it was what it was, but if we can get three competent starters going this year, I think Hilliard has the potential to be a big piece for us in the BP.
