Brother SOS, what are your expectations for Victor? How he looked in practice last spring was really low key

I'm looking at an 8 & 8 guy who helps us toughen up inside where we lack a lot of strength.

Just what we need too.

Where did you find your Kentucky ticket? I think the congregation needs to make a mission trip to Lexington.

Hornsby definitely starts. Don't know why people can't understand that. He's a senior who played more minutes than anyone last year lol

Brother, anyone thinking Hornsby doesn't start is ignorant. He brings too much leadership to the floor. I look for Gray to be much improved and Epps to have a solid season. I think he can average 8/5 or so. I'm hoping Elbert is improved as well

I know it's a highlight tape but Robinson had a couple plays. I'm really rooting for my brother. Dude needs to put it together. 5/7 would suffice

Sons, we need to get a Kentucky trip going, son.

Does LSU not get an allotment of away game tickets?

Woah! This isn't pelicans talk, son!

I hope to see more from Robinson this year, guy seemed to have some promise coming in. I'm looking at a line up of TQ/Tone/Hornsby/Simmons/Malone. I don't know if victor starts when he comes eligible, but think he will get more minutes than malone and possibly take it before SEC tourney.

Tq
Tone
Hornsby
Simmons
Victor

Grey
Patterson
Sampson
Epps/bridge
Malone/robertson

That bench would probably win a few sec games. College ball is guard dominated. Pretty amazing considering what jj started with. Now he has to get the entire team to play consistantly against both good and bad competition. Last year we struggled more in the games we were supposed to win than we did in the ones we were supposed to lose.

I love this discussion. In my opinion Sampson does have a chance to start, but it would be over Blakeney before it would be over Hornsby. JJ did that a game ago in Australia. As has been said, Hornsby just gives too much on both ends, not to mention leadership to not start. But, Sampson has surprised a lot of people but having a chance to watch this kid up close for a couple years, I am not. He is so athletic and such a pure shooter. The only thing Blakeney has over him is the ranking. Sampson is taller, more athletic and a better shooter. Yes Blakeney is excellent and will be great for LSU. He will also be a 1st round pick next year. Not saying Blakeney is not that good or that Sampson is significantly better. Just saying I don't feel there should be an automatic given that Tone starts just because he comes in as the more heralded player. Brandon is underrated to me, due to playing in Baton Rouge and him being unselfish this year to give more exposure to some of the young players on Madison Prep's team. There were games that Brandon could have had 35 points easily, but all he did was pass the ball and play defense because the other kids were good enough to get the job done and he already had his scholarship offers. He knew they could win by him not being the scorer while letting the other guys shine.

Just go and check the box scores from all the games and check Sampson's shooting from deep. And I believe they are using the international 3 point line which is a foot deeper then college. Maybe I'm wrong, but either way he is shooting about 50%. This has always been a guard game in college, which is why Duke won, UConn has won and why LSU lost to NC State last year in the tournament. In my opinion LSU has the best guards in the country outside of maybe Kentucky. Gray, to me, has lost him time due to what Sampson and how good Patterson is as a shooter and defender. All in all, I think Malone starts until Victor is able to play. Although I have never seen Victor play to give an honest opinion, so I'm just going off of what I have seen people say. But I feel late in games or down the stretch, you will see Simmons as the lone big guy surrounded by 4 shooters(TQ, Hornsby, Tone and Sampson).

No college coach uses "number system" huh. Guess you worked for a program here in LA. It's not a number system. It's just easier way to say point guard basically. Nice job trying to be jack arse

And when you watch a coach draw up a play they most of time either put players initials or 1-5

King... Sampson is 6'5 and Tone is 6'4. Also if you were to find some of the photos of them all together, you can see Sampson is taller. As far as the shooting, like I said, Blakeney is excellent but he is more scorer then PURE shooter. Very good still at shooting but can do more to put the ball in basket then just spot up. Sampson is so pure as a shooter and the numbers, so far, show it. Also go look at any video of the two and you will see how effortless Sampson gets off the floor and how athletic he is. Again, not saying one is Larry Bird athletically and the other is Jordan. Blakeney is for sure a stud athlete but Brandon is slightly more athletic.

Brother, there is more to being a 2 guard than just shooting 3s. Blakeney isn't much off (if at all) of a shooter from Sampson and gets to the rim much better. Brandon is good but Tone is a beast

Seeing these Australia highlights, I find it hard to see how we can keep Sampson off the court. He looks like he might be one of the quickest players we have.

I say... to start

1 - Quarterman
2 - Hornsby
3 - Epps
4 - Simmons
5 - Malone

Johnny Jones likes to start a center, even if he doesn't play most of the game.

So after the first timeout...

1 - Patterson
2 - Hornsby
3 - Quarterman
4 - Epps
5 - Simmons

Alec, you dont want our most veteran, clutch player coming off the bench.

TQ
Blakeney
Hornsby
Simmons
Victor(doing lineup with him playing)

Gray
Patterson
Sampson
Epps
Malone

CJJ has the ability to do what Kentucky did last year by throwing a completely new five out there if things get shaky.
