Former offensive lineman, Matt Branch, was seriously injured in a hunting accident yesterday. He and his family need prayers and support at this difficult time.

Horrible news but at least he'll still have his life.

Dog hit the gun and apparently pulled the trigger somehow

We worked for the same company at one time. Don’t know him well but I checked with his former boss and he says Matt’s dad gave him that info.

Still critical in ICU on a ventilator, but has started to become responsive with his eyes and simple head movement at times. Will have another surgery later today to remove the shunt in his leg and finish amputating dead tissue. Not out of the woods yet, but definitely looking A LOT better than it was.

That's what I was told as well. Also that he coded a few times en route to the hospital and in the hospital. They administered 30+ units of blood to him because he was losing it as fast/faster than they could get it into him for a while.

Obviously hit the femoral.

Amazing to me he could lose enough circulation to lose the leg and remain alive.

Maybe someone with first response experience was there, but that’s difficult to tourniquet

I had totally forgot about him, even though I am from the same area and what a crazy and tragic accident.

I am pretty close to this situation and was given an update by a family member this morning that although far from out of the woods yet, Matt is responsive this morning and has tried to talk a little but can’t because he’s still hooked up to the vent. This was a horrible deal and he is very lucky to be alive. Please continue to pray for Matt and his family.

Update. Matt is stable. More surgery being considered. One very tough man.

I don’t think a hunting accident is their agenda

Hate to hear that. About 20 years go my uncles dog stepped on the trigger of his gun in a jon bait. It sprayed the pattern into the boat seat directly between his legs. One of those moments where you look around and take a deep breath. Very easily could have killed him.
