Practice notes Tuesday Day 10

Per Zack Nagy from SI.com
Denver Harris was absent for the second straight day as his status remains in question in the cornerback room.
A few notes from Tuesday:
Quarterbacks
Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers connected on several occasions in the back corner of the end zone during goal line work.
Daniels' intermediate ball continues standing out as he improves day-by-day.
Garrett Nussmeier and Chris Hilton Jr. will be fun to monitor. He continues targeting the third-year Tiger.
Running Backs
Josh Williams, Logan Diggs and Armoni Goodwin did not participate in drills during Tuesday’s practice. The trio of backs were sidelined on Monday as well but were seen in the corner on the bikes.
Williams was off to the side doing non-contact work as he nurses a minor injury.
John Emery and Noah Cain received a majority of reps with Trey Holly also getting in the mix.
Kaleb Jackson made a nice catch in the end zone on a pass from Garrett Nussmeier.
Wide Receivers
Malik Nabers had another big day on Tuesday. He showcased his elite athleticism as an end zone threat and had a few connections with Jayden Daniels.
Jalen Brown had a great day among the wide receivers and continues improving on a day-by-day basis. Tuesday was his best day as a Tiger.
Kyren Lacy and Aaron Anderson continue rotating in the slot. Mike Denbrock is clearly looking to utilize Anderson’s skill set in a big way.
Tight Ends
Ka’Morreun Pimpton had the play of the day on Tuesday. Pimpton went up and over the defender to make the highlight reel catch to cap off the day. He’s emerged as a lethal weapon during fall camp. Will be interesting to see how the Tigers use him this season.
Mac Markway is an elite-level blocker and this program continues using him as such during 11-on-11 work.
Offensive Line
Will Campbell, Garrett Dellinger, Charles Turner, Miles Frazier and Emery Jones continues to be the first team offensive line.
Mason Lunsford and Marlon Martinez rotated in with the first team.
Bo Bordelon is getting big-time reps with the 2’s along with Lance Heard.
Defensive Line
Bradyn Swinson had a big day for the defensive line. He took a few first team reps and made the most of his chances.
Maason Smith was back on the field but did work to the side for most of the day. He’s getting his legs back underneath him after a minor injury scare on Saturday. It was nice to see him back on the field working.
Limited notes on the DL on Tuesday.
Linebackers
Not much to report with the linebackers.
Harold Perkins and Omar Speights continue holding down the fort for the second level of the defense with Greg Penn III also making an impact.
The Weeks brothers (Whit and West) are also making their presence felt.
Cornerbacks
Zy Alexander and Duce Chestnut remain the No. 1 and No. 2 cornerbacks for the Tigers with Ashton Stamps also rotating in with the 1’s at times.
Laterrance Welch had a few pass breakups on Tuesday.
Sage Ryan took snaps at cornerback.
Safeties
Andre Sam received first team run again on Tuesday alongside Major Burns. When operating with a three safety package, Greg Brooks lined up next to both of them.
Javien Toviano is working as a hybrid. He's working at safety and nickel but has also seen reps at cornerback.

Best thing I’ve heard all camp. Great offenses take advantage of this area of the field.

Does anyone how Bryce Langston been doing. That’s a name I haven’t heard of ever.

KPimp is going to be a matchup nightmare. A lot of different types of threats on this offense, I love it

Harris is clearly suspended but even suspended players practice so this is a weird situation
I’m leaning towards he’s gone

I can't wait to see this guy play.

Have I been under a rock? What's this about?

It will be interesting to see how they use him assuming he might struggle with blocking (which is not unexpected for Freshmen). If he is in the game as an endline player it may make LSU pretty predictable (i.e. not very likely to run with him in...or at least to his side). I'm guessing we will see him spread more off the line where great blocking isn't an absolute necessity and LSU can still run out of that formation.
Taylor played a lot out of necessity last year. But he was also a decent (at least for a true freshman) blocker which allowed LSU to do different things with him. We all know Denbrock wants to use multiple TEs. But I think you are seeking Mackway getting more reps with the first team because he makes LSU less predictable

Is this guy gonna stay healthy this year? Not looking good already.

In the Smokey Investments practice report yesterday ole Buddy Songy harped and harped that the quarterbacks are no where near ready and don't expect Daniels to magically be rolling through progressions on September the 3rd.
I always chuckle at these unfilmed practice reports where were relying on the assessment of some distant media guys and those opinions vary from one report to the other.

I've never been this excited about TE. When you have 2-3 legit guys at the position & aren't afraid to use them, it confounds defenses to no end. I love Kelly's emphasis & history of developmen here. It's going to pay major dividends in conference play.

That's hyperbole and defies common sense. Of course we shouldn't expect JD to be able to get pre snap reads and go through progressions like Burrow in in 2019. But he will be better based simply on these factors:
2nd season in system
Same staff, same schemes
Familiarity with players
OL experience providing a better pocket and more time
Entire offense with more experience meaning they all know their responsibilities
Additional playmakers
One season of SEC play under his belt
All of these will slow the game down for him to make better decisions.
