I’m just curious what everyone thinks. He clearly has a special place in his heart for USC and living in California but LSU is the home town team with better talent and recruiting grounds generally. I honestly don’t know I think it’s closer than a lot of people might believe and he would have to really think about it.

Where the frick did this come from?

I would rather coach USC than LSU. L.A. is a way better city to live in as a multi-millionaire than is BR, way better weather, way lower expectations, much lesser competition in conference, and a ton of media bias on your side. Seems like USC would be a great destination job.

Way more liberals, way more traffic, way less chance of ever winning a national championship. GET THE frick OUT OF HERE with that trash

You honestly THINK he is a serious candidate at USC?

No USC was never going to hire Ed. But that doesn’t mean that O didn’t think he was a serious candidate

Better question: If he wasn't at LSU, would it be USC or Miami? CEO loves the beach, which would he choose??

Let’s be honest: Baton Rouge has terrible weather. L.A. has some of the most comfortable weather year-round in the country (I really cannot oversell how much better the weather is there). L.A. does have terrible traffic, but BR ain’t exact Mayberry in that respect. L.A. has terrible homelessness, but someone making P5 HC money can afford to avoid that, and can afford a high class lifestyle despite the stupid liberals and high taxes. BR also has WAAAAAAY worse crime.

LSU fans have extremely high expectations and demand results. Heck, we wanted Les Miles gone for consistently winning 9-10 games per year. USC would tolerate 9-10 wins per year forever. LSU has to play the most dominant program in CFB every year, and has to beat that team to win their division. USC doesn’t play the best team in their conference every year, and their biggest annual competitor isn’t in their conference.

If one’s goal is to remain gainfully employed, USC is a much better job with an easier path to achieving results that keep your job. LSU is a program with a much higher ceiling that is a better launchpad to a CFB playoff victory, but the fanbase expects that, demands that, and will not hesitate to shitcan a coach who doesn’t compete at an elite level consistently, which requires beating the most dominant program in CFB to do so.

Remember, while USC hasn’t made the playoffs, they’ve got a path to do so every year, and they don’t have to beat Alabama (or even Notre Dame) to do so.

Southern California is great weather and all, but Orgeron looks like a guy who is truly loving life where he is at now. Hey, if he gets ten wins this year and USC offers him a 10 year / $100m contract, I hope he takes it and enjoys life. And he just might.

He won a championship in one of the greatest seasons at LSU so he doesn't owe as anything.

This genuinely makes no sense. He’s a national championship winning coach at LSU.

No one wants the job at USC. Not under the way they operate, which is why they still have Helton. There is a bizarre power dynamic there.
