Vietmeir doesn’t have good stuff. 2 pitch guy with average fastball.

I don't think we've seen what Vietmeier can really do. He had thoracic outlet surgery in the fall. Usually the first season back from that isn't good.
There just may be more there than what we saw this season.

Kodros is better from left side, but Vietmeier still has really good potential with that size he has (6'3, 210) and only being a freshman, plus I dont think he was 100% this season from a health standpoint.
Not every pitcher has starting potential so I don't see why 2 pitches for a freshman is a huge negative. He still threw 22.0 IP this season (which by the way is way more than anyone else on that list of 5 guys I posted) in 16 appearances and had a .263 BAA with 19 K's. Again, biggest issue with him was the 13 walks, 5 hit batters and 5 wild pitches.
Compare him with Nowak, Moffitt or Reese and tell me why they are better?

Pretty much.
Pitchers confirmed not here in 2019
-Levi Kelly
-Nick Bush
-Cam Sanders
-Taylor Peterson
I figure these guys are locks
01 - Hess
02 - Walker
03 - Hilliard
04 - Labas
05 - Storz
06 - Todd Peterson
07 - Gilbert
08 - Beck
09 - Fontenot
10 - Jaden Hill
11 - Marceaux
12 - Cole Henry
13 - Will Ripoll
14 - Chase Costello
15 - Easton McMurray (lefty)
16 - Aaron George - I would say he is a candidate to go JUCO, but he came from a JUCO...so I guess that's not an option
7 pitchers that could conceivably be let go
-Kodros - I'd like to keep him
-Vietmeier - He's good enough to keep around, but might get caught in a numbers crunch
-Moffitt - Most people think he stays
-Nowack - Prolly gone
-Reese - Prolly gone
-Riggs Threadwell - Candidate to sign with a JUCO
-Rye Gunter - Candidate to sign with a JUCO
***We're trying to make room for LHP Erik Tolman as well.

What would lead you to that opinion in the first place?

They aren't.

I forgot about that, I guess that could explain why he didn’t hit 90mph all year
Kodros had some sick HS numbers coming in but none of these guys pitched any meaningful innings this year and I think that says a lot considering we needed arms

He looked a lot better to start the season than during the middle as well. Didn't he have a groin injury early? He never seemed quite the same after coming back from that.

I'm just going with the lowest ranked recruits. That's the only way to judge them without seeing them pitch at this level.
4 lowest ranked pitchers are George, McMurray, Threadgill, & Gunter. McMurray is a lefty & George is from a JUCO.

The thing with Kodros is that what you see now is pretty much what he's going to be. His curve may get a little sharper, he'll get some more poise, a little more control.
Absolute best case scenario is lefty Hunter Newman.

George was a closer for San Jac for 2 years.
McMurray was drafted in the 37th or 38th round by the Rockies.
Threadgill throws in the mid 90s.
Gunter throws in the low 90s.

Not everyone is ready to pitch 30+ innings as a freshman. Some guys take a little time. I tihnk it's promising Vietmeier saw 16 appearances and 22 innings this year. Kodros still saw 15 appearances despite a bit less innings (they clearly wanted to get him out there). Neither got got rocked by any shape of the imagination (Moffitt on the other hand...). I will say it seemed whenever someone did get hit a on Vietmeier it seemed to go for extra bases which kind of sucks.

The work that some of y’all put into this is appreciated

I think on a normal year they stick but this year they are low on the totem pole when it comes down to it
Esp Veitmeir, where does he fit in with the guys we have coming back? He wouldn’t pitch 15IP next year imo

You're assuming every arm coming in is definitely better and would pitch more which is probably not a safe assumption at all. Every year we bring in a Reese, Frederick, etc...who barely pitches.
At this point I dont see a need to cut 5 pitchers, I think we may cut 3, POSSIBLY 4, just dont see the need for 5. I think it's more likely we cut 3 and tell a current recruit or two to go to JUCO than cut 4/5 pitchers personally.

We will have a more clear picture on Vietmeier after the summer. He's one of only like 3 pitchers throwing this summer.
We may carry more than 35 in the fall and see what happens from a medical standpoint too.

Dude just consider who return from our actual team. Labas & Storz at full health push a guy like Veitmeir even further down
Walker
Hilliard
Hess
Gilbert
Peterson
Fontenot
Then you have 2 HS guys that turned down $1mil.
Then McMurray & any other LH that will factor in to the bullpen
You don’t agree? Which guys is he gonna pitch over?

He deserves credit for eating some innings for us when we were getting our arse kicked, but yeah his stuff is probably going to need an uptick to be any kind of factor next season. And maybe it will due to the surgery recovery.
Posted on 6/8/18 at 9:32 am to Lester Earl
Who’s the other that turned down a mill?

so coach, in your opinion, what did Mr. All American improve on this year?
He definitely improved his 2 strike approach at the plate as the season went on!!
