Then you have 2 HS guys that turned down $1mil.

Then McMurray & any other LH that will factor in to the bullpen

You listed out like 10-11 guys, we carry about 17-19 pitchers typically. I'm not saying he will be a 30-40 inning guy, but we still will carry 17-19 pitchers, and IMO he should still be apart of that at the moment.

Walker
Labas
Beck
Fontenot
Hess
Gilbert
Peterson
Hilliard
Storz

All are pretty much guaranteed a spot coming back on the team. That's 9 guys.

In the recruiting class I would say there's no way they dont take Hill, Marceaux, Henry, McMurry, Costello & Ripoll.

That's 6 guys for 15 total probably guaranteed a spot.

So that leaves:
Kodros
Nowak
Vietmeier
Moffitt
Reese
+
George (JUCO)
Threadgill
Gunter

In terms of who do you take for the last 3, maybe 4 spots. I already ranked how I see the Top 5 in terms of current returnees, if you get rid of 3 of those guys, then you're looking at taking 1 of the 3 remaining recruits which is 19 pitchers and we likely wouldn't carry more than that. MAYBE we'd do 20, but I just dont know about that. The other kid in limbo Tolman, could throw a wrench into all that if he's indeed someone they bring in this year.

I think it’s more likely they keep Moffitt , a walk on then they would Veitmeier

Kodros the lefty, too

That would be a huge mistake, I know his dad is a huge deal at LSU for a long time, but it's pretty clear Moffitt brings absolutely nothing to the table, and it's not like he's got the potential at this point to get any better. Kodros and Vietmeier both still have a lot of time.

Vietmeier was also a decently good 1st/3rd baseman from what I recall in high school (hit well at plate). So even if he doesnt get much innings, he could backup a few position in the field and add value there. Think similar to Austin Bain.

I agree with the 15 locks.

Out of those 8...I'd think we take Kodros, Moffitt, George (JUCO), & 1 of Threadgill/Gunter.

If it were up to me...I'd replace Moffitt with Vietmeier or Threadgill/Gunter.

Can they start doing what they do in football and have coaches as "consultants" to get around the rule?

I think no doubt to anyone Vietmeier is much better than Moffitt, I mean if it comes down to a scholarship allocation, I guess I could see Moffitt over Vietmeier, but if we're simply talking who is better, it's pretty clear there.

I guess it doesnt really matter who pitches when we're up 9-0 on Grambling in the 5th inning.

I don't know if this has been posted here, but it's on the recruiting board. Apparently this guy is committed: Erik Tolman 2018 LHP

Yea. That hasn't been officially confirmed, but the word is that we're trying to make room for him. #1 rated LHP in California.

His Dad posted a recruiting video of CPM on his twitter.

Walk on vs scholarship pitcher for the 18th pitcher on your roster. Hmmmm. We need to clear scholarship money on top of roster spots I would believe.

There's no way Vietmeier is a full scholarship player, maybe 0.25-0.5 or something, even still, no doubting he's a much much better pitcher than Moffitt. IF it ends up being a scholarship situation so be it, but I would work on keeping him over Moffitt by far first.

I never said he was on full scholly. His partial scholarship money will be needed when we have so many guys promised scholarships. More than usual

Damn I was really hoping Slaughter would return.

Agreed. Thought he was starting to turn the corner and could really improve his draft stock with a strong jr year. Apparently CPM had different thoughts as it relates to opportunities to do that next year.
"LSU will likely lose just four current players to the professional ranks: pitchers Nick Bush and Cam Sanders, infielder Jake Slaughter and catcher Hunter Feduccia. Mainieri said he advised all four players to sign after they were drafted."
