So they value him so much that if he isnt retained he would leave LSU and go where??

Frank has known the Berry’s for over a decade and recruited Harlem since he was in the 8th grade. Recent interview Jacques Doucet conducted with Harlem’s mom and dad confirmed they trust Frank more than anyone else and “Frank is my boy”. If Frank was hired by an SEC competitor and Harlem offered a significant NIL deal it would not surprise me if Harlem follows.

Do you know how recruiting works? He doesn’t just recruit rb’s. He recruits the NOLA area and helps with all big recruits’ family relationships. He’s a people person, has ties throughout the state, and has enormous value.

Stop with the rb stats.

We absolutely should retain Frank for tons of reasons. Kelly learned, too late, that if you want LA to love you, love them first

Is this correct? if so, it would be a new development.

In my lifetime, no way would I trade LA born RBs for MS born RBs. Billy was before me.

Nope don't want him. Our rb's are not that good. Maybe talent but more likely coaching.

That's dumb.

It might be number one in per capita BUT in actual raw numbers, Louisiana has more blue chip talent.

As I keep saying, the top dozen in Mississippi are as good as anywhere else but after that first dozen there is a drop off. Big one.

In back to back years he will have landed Harlem Berry and Richard Anderson in heated recruiting battles. I am not a star chaser, but let's acknowledge the power he has in New Orleans when warranted. He also has Aidan Hall currently in this class.

Richard Anderson is specifically impressive, because his main recruiter, Bo Davis, left LSU and he still stuck with LSU, and Frank Wilson was a big reason for that.

I think Richard Anderson is the best defensive lineman to come out of New Orleans since Marquise Hill.

The ignorance on here is astounding. I’m sure Saban himself told Lane about the riches of NFL type talent in LA. It’s one of the main reasons he is coming. MS doesn’t have more D1 talent per capita than LA. They’ve had 1 first round draftee since 2005. We’ve had 5. He would be smart to find a place for Frank it it’s not the end of the world if he doesn’t.

It’s not about RB coaching it’s about recruiting and his strong connections to Louisiana HS football, particularly the NOLA area.

I’d say it’s more that the old recruiting paradigm is almost meaningless now.

That’s horseshite. Small time thinking.

Look who is still in the SEC Championship Game. Who are the expected winners of the National Title? It isn’t OU, Vandy, or Ole Miss. It’s still the same teams you expect, and the reason is that they all STILL RECRUIT consistently at a Top 5 level AND use the portal effectively. How is this still a mystery to some of you?

Kiffin doesn’t have to play money ball here like he did at Ole Miss. He can use guys like Frank, Corey and O to lock down a lot of the top LA players. We all know that involves paying them, but do you think they having Frank didn’t help get Berry here, or that Corey wasn’t vital in landing Pickett in conjunction with that money? When the money is equal or close, the relationships still matter.

Here’s the other point. We’ve already proven over the last 4 seasons that we will pay to keep the players we want to stay. You can count on one hand the guys who left who we wanted here. What some of you keep missing is that for all but a top handful of players, recruiting and retention are CHEAPER than the portal. It’s a much bigger market to select from.

Excelling in HS recruiting and retaining the guys you want after having them in the program allows you to spend your money on a few expensive impact adds in the portal. That’s a better approach than constantly spreading that same money across double digit spots like we had to last offseason.

It’s simple math and economics. The guys we have to recruit LA and the SE will allow us to use our money more efficiently and to generate the most impact.

Frank coached WRs for Kiffin at UT, I believe.

I’m guessing Kiffin finds a spot for him, even if it’s not as RB Coach.
